  1. I love Mrs. Trump's attire- very high fashion. Though perhaps too high fashion for this event?? The photo of Justin Trudeau with D of Cambridge- he looks completely besotted! Not a fan of Catherine's green dress- her style is now a bore, and those hand gestures again....

    1. And what's wrong with her talking with her hands. She's been doing that for years hope you have the same engery when other royal ladies do it because seems to me a lot people on this site loves to constantly nitpick women in the British Royal Family.

@Davion 3:20am - Kate's hand gestures are okay; Kate constantly playing with hair (at high-level events!) is kind of rude. The other day in the baking episode she of course had her hair hanging down as well.

    3. Lmao what does your comment have to do with anything that I had to say. She's pulling a piece of hair behind her ear how in the world is that rude? That's just another lame excuse to hate on her honey nice try yikes😬😐

    4. There is nothing wrong with using expressive hand gestures in a conversation to emphasize a point, to nuance something that you're asserting or to draw your partner's attention to an especific point. Catherine's hand gestures are customary for those of us who are born and live in the south european countries that some U.S and british media call disdainfulli PIGS. Well done, Catherine.

Once again @Davion 12:59pm - Contrary to your comment, I am not hating on the Duchess; in fact, I like her quite a bit. However, she and another Duchess, despite their "high calling", need to realize that playing with hair is actually childish and - as I said - rude. Then they shake hands, touch food, etc. And this is only one photo of one split second in time. Kate is well known for her hair antics. Her twirling it on Remembrance Day 2013 was her wake-up call, but it didn't last long. Seriously?

    6. I think it's natural to take hair out of your face so it's not obstructive but I do agree that the Remembrance Day 2013 ringlet curling was not a good look...

  2. Hmmm, a NATO Summit is not a fashion show, I guess. Sorry, not very impressed with any of the fashion choices here, except Camilla! The colour of her dress is very nice, one of my favourite colours actually. Cut and fit as always just made for her. She must have a really good Seamstress/ Taylor.
Melania- sorry, that colour with pink - no. The Queen - this green patterned suit to me is a rare miss.
Angela Merkel - what can one say about yet another Pantsuit? Also, she should comb her hair over the ears IMHO. Kate - can't see much but seems like a very plain green dress.

    1. Interesting to read your thoughts, but I happen to feel the opposite just about everything you wrote.
I think that Camilla's dress (though nice in colour) is very unflattering on her.
The Queen on the other hand looks interestingly different to me. Maybe because it's a suit rather than one of her shapeless dresses, and those shoulder flaps and the draped thing are cool. The colour/pattern also quite the departure from her usual. I don´t think it´s her best ever but it´s definitely good and refreshingly different.
I don´t mind Melania´s cape nor the colours in combination, but I do hope that she took off her cape and that the photos show her arriving rather than mingling.
As for Merkel - yes, it´s another pantsuit but I didn´t expect anything else. She only ever wears a dress at the opera (usually looking terrible). A pantsuit is not inappropriate for this event, and as far as I´m concerned, it´s one of her better ones.
I do agree about Kate´s seemingly plain green dress. And while I like green (a lot actually), I find this shade too harsh on her. She should stick to forest green, emerald green or olive/moss type of green.

These photos are very interesting to look at, and everyone´s body language is more telling than a million speeches.

    2. Vanessa, you are absolutely right. And again, Camilla needs a better fitting bra. (Where found Merkel her shoes? As seen on other pictures...)
The Duchess of Gloucester looks impeccable.

    3. To me as well Melania's outfit is overdressed. Can only sgtrongly agree about a BETTER bra for Camilla, a pity since her dress is indeed quite nice.

Angela Merkel did so much for all women of the world just because she freed us all from that ridiculous outdated thinking a woman has to wear a skirt at a offical/business meeting. She hasn't much time for any workout but the jacket was perfectly cut, the colour a bit ecclesiastical, but maybe that was intended.

All of the ladies look excellent. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth looks particularly striking. The men all look pretty boring so predictable;Charles looks good. Nato is serious business;sour grapes to Mr Macron;as France is not part of Nato;so poor Mrs Macron is not in the running for the fashion stakes.

La réintégration de la France dans le commandement de l'OTAN / NATO est annoncée par le président de la République Nicolas Sarkozy au Congrès à Washington le 7 novembre 2007.

I read messages above and found no questioning about the absence of Harry and Meghan. According to the press they took some vacation in the US, so they were sure not to meet Pr Trump.

  5. Interesting mix of styles here. It is frustrating to see only a tiny bit of most of the dresses, especially the pale pink one in the 2nd photo, which I think I could love 🙂. For now, I've got to give highest marks to Queen Elizabeth's incredibly elegant ensemble. Melania Trump's cape is fierce and stunning, and it does perhaps make too strong a visual statement here -- however, I suspect she wore it mainly to arrive and depart in. (Can you imagine how warm she would have become, wearing it over the long-sleeved dress in that crowded space?) Her fuchsia dress and heels were probably both elegant and appropriate to the occasion.

The Queen's suit and scarf are an outstanding change from her more plain suits of one color. I personally think this outfit is beautiful! Catherine; Cannot see enough of her dress to really make any comments, she is lovely as always. The presidents wife seems to have missed the mark completely, this is an indoor reception, leave the flying cape to an outdoor event. The colors are ghastly together, make one feel sickly looking at them. Camilla, plain as ever... Princess Anne and the lady in deep blue, lovely.

  8. Really like the Queen’s dress—— a bit different from her usual style. Good for her being prepared to move from her regular style. Like Camilla’s dress and what can be seen of theDuchess of Gloucester. The Duchess of Cambridge is as smart as ever but I’ve seen more exciting outfits. Melanie Trump’s outfit is amazing but I can’t understand the colour combo.

  9. Mrs. Trump is extremely overdressed in my opinion. She favors this type of caped coat/dress, and I'm not impressed with the style or the color. In my opinion, Camilla is the best dressed lady at the reception, and I rather like the Queen's green patterned dress with attached scarf. It is a different look for her. The Duchess of Gloucester looks pretty in her blue dress and coordinating jewels.

  10. Long time lurker, finally have to type this..... Camilla needs a good bra. Something to lift and hold "the ladies". She loves this same style in a dress, I swear she has one in every color. It does the trick, basic dress. We should all have a go-to style... But man...a good bra would do her wonders. Seen it for years, had to get it off my chest. Sorry for the pun! Love the site and all the comments!!!!

  14. The Queen looks marvellous. Her ensemble is beautiful. Love the pearl jewellery and beautiful brooch holding the cascading scarf, something a tad different and it works brilliantly. Mrs Trump looks fantastic. Love this colour combination and shoe choice, not boring, elegant look. Not so keen on Camilla's dress, the colour is lovely, but the dress is very unflattering.

  16. Queen Elizabeth, looks surprisingly different today and yet with her usual aplomb, and well defined style. Catherine's dress has a beautiful tone, pity there aren't better pictures. Camilla's dress also has great color, but the silhouette is just very unflattering for her body type and age, I also think that she should invest on a good brassiere, I am surprised that she doesn't realize it when she sees pictures of herself. Melania Trump, also with a great color, stunning, yes, elegant no! completely out of place for the occasion, and I don't think she took that cape off, I have seen video of her mingling on her coat.

I like iT that in these rather stressfull times for politicians they seem to have A relaxed time together in the palace. Nobody is overdoing iT with their clothing exept Melanie who screams with her dress that She is the real queen here!

  18. I think that Melania looks like a tall Tee Pee altough an elegant one. This is not one of her simple elegant succesful choices. The hem is not even. She looks somewhat like an origami envelope gone wrong. I can't put my finger on it but maybe there is just too much fabric floating about aimlessly. Perhaps the cape sleeve area is just too long but it just does not gel.

Whenever I see her in this cape style - and she has worn this look before - she reminds me of Darth Vader: tall, imposing, striding forward with full length cape flowing behind. She has such good posture, figure and bone structure that she could wear less structured outfits so beautifully where many others could not. I suppose whatever pleases her.

Since Trump is the only NATO leader who took his wife along, I guess he needs her around to make some sort of statement. Bright, totally inadequate outfits are in fact her speciality (see UN speech in Delpozo dress) when she has nothing of substance to add. No surprise there.

Her Majesty looks very nice. This lady amazes me every time. So much dignity and poise. Nothing flashy and showy. Just incredible depth and professionalism. Hat off.

My second favourite royal is the Duchess of Gloucester. Like Her Majesty, she brings a profound humanity in every encounter. It shows in her demeanour and smile. She rarely misses in her looks. This is a win.

Camilla looks alright, but shapeless. She did much better on other occasions.

I am with Vanessa on Catherine’s dress. This shade of green doesn’t do her favours. It’s harsh and it’s aging her face (can’t see the lower part, it may have an interesting cut, but the colour still isn’t one I would recommend to anyone with her complexion and propensity for dark eye makeup). Nothing wrong with her hand gestures, she isn’t a full time official representing the UK, has time to get a little more polished.

Mrs Merkel is such an amazing leader, it’s irrelevant what she wears. Doesn’t need to make a statement with her clothes. In fact, I believe her disregard for fashion is one of the reasons she is this strong. Nobody runs a country based on outfits. It’s not just unimportant, it would be distracting. She mastered that perfectly. Hat off to her as well.

    1. Other leaders also took their spouses along. For example, you can see Mrs. Duda (the wife of the Polish president) in the photo behind Melania Trump.

    2. Anonymous7/12/19 14:20

Yup, you’re right. President Duda is another one who needs his wife around to make a statement with her clothes. Same rationale for having her around, better taste and more polished style, statement-making but not ridiculous.

  23. Mary T, why would you continue to spin rumors and nonsense about Meghan and Harry? I don't know these 2, but I can safely assume that they planned their vacation around the Holidays, Thanksgiving being such a significant date for most Americans. I can also imagine that Meghan would like to have her firstborn spend time with his grandmother. Do you think that Mr. Trump has any influence on their family dynamics?
Independently of my political convictions, and as a woman that works and volunteers with women all the time, I would have a hard time shaking this man's hand, however, if my job would required it I would put my personal disgust aside, and do so.
I think at one point we must stop, making assertions about people that we don't know, and FACTS still matter.

  28. Regarding Mrs. Merkel, it is interesting to read in the German press that she is a woman without vanity, even her arch enemies respect this and can judge her character because they know her personally. This is also reflected in her clothes. She always looks neat and tidy. However, she does represent her country and not only
herself and I think, and others do too, that her FORMAL outfits are inadequate. A photo of her exists when she visited the Pope and she was wearing a very becoming outfit with a SKIRT and was praised, and rightly so.
