Very interesting to see the queen wear white. Do they enjoy the "privilege du blanc", does the vatican dress code not apply in thailand or is it a faux pas?

She probably did not know. Anyway the old dress code (le privilège du blanc) is outdated. Why should the vatican dictate its guests what to wear in the 21st century? As long as it is respectfull it should be OK.

حذفAs I'm looking at the photos I'm thinking, "Shouldn't she have her head covered? No, wait, she's in her own country - does that rule even apply? Does any of the "rules" apply?" LOL. I'm sure someone will straighten us out. :-) She looks fantastic though. Very elegant and conservative without looking doughty or outdated.

The Queen is very beautiful in her all white ensemble. The only color is the black background of what looks like a cameo brooch.

حذفGreat look ,do love the Dress or gown of the Queen. Everyone in white,lovely. No the Royal House of Thailand do not have the privilege du blanc because they are not catholic. Also they did not visit the Pope in Roma, he is in their Country.

I do love this Pope and his very accepting ways of others paths, religions, and lifestyle. He is a Renaissance Pope
And a King with a let's say, more than colourful hobbies... ;-) And in a country where the royals are to be treated almost like gods... I wonder what his thoughts are concerning this?

ردحذفFor a pope who is very one with the people I wonder if he feels uncomfortable with the King's staff literally sitting and laying on the floor in the King's presence. His staff seem disposable and he seems to certainly treat them as servants.
ردحذفI do like that the Thai queen curtsied to the Pope. What a respectful gesture. That makes up for wearing white in his presence, but since they were not in the Vatican (Apostolic Palace) but at home, this surely is forgiveable. Rules are no longer that strict than they were under Pope Paul VI or John Paul II, for that matter. Also, the Vatican is considered a state, albeit a tiny one, as is Thailand, so maintaining diplomatic relations is part of the job, and not all is about religion.
