Q Letizia looks lovely in this outfit, it does nothing for me. I like the blouse and shoes.

This ... thingy, how-do-you-call-it from Zara is genuinely ugly if I may say so. Moreover, it cuts into the floral pattern on the rock that was meant to be the main decorative feature connecting blouse and skirt. But well, maybe it is only me who sees it that way ...

  3. Does Camilla not have a similar jacket? Don't like the look on either of them. In the first couple of photos I assumed it was an academic gown. Everything else works well, though. Letizia looking good as usual.

  4. Yikes! That's the ugliest outfit I've seen on Letizia in quite some time. The top is nice. The skirt is nice. Even, the jacket is nice-ish. But together? Not nice at all.

Felipe remains a nice tall drink of mmmmmmmm.

  7. Sie kann dieses seltsame Cape wirklich mit Grandezza tragen. Respekt!

    1. Warum sollte irgendjemand so etwas Seltsames tragen wollen? Und macht es das zu einem heroischen Akt, der Respekt gebührt, wenn man es dennoch trägt? Ich denke nicht! It makes no sense! Letizia, no need to put this thing back into your closet, it can go straight into the garbage bin ;-))

I am a supporter of Letizia and always look forward to seeing what she wears at her engagements. This cape thing, however, is just very bad in my opinion. It is rather shapeless and odd looking. The skirt, blouse, and shoes are very nice.

Oh dear, D. Camilla’s cape has made its way to Spain! Sadly it doesn’t suit Q. Letitia’s outfit either. (V.M.)

I don’t mind the Zara cape however I don’t like it with this top and skirt. Separately the pieces are all nice but not wore together.

  15. Without the cape-like-thing, Letizia would have look fabulous. With it, she still looks gorgeous and gets a pass due to the rest of her ensemble and her exquisite makeup and hair. Her skirt definitely evokes a Spanish style with its vibrant floral print on a black background. It makes me think of flamenco dancers. In my opinion, her bag is too clunky; a smaller clutch would have been better. As always, her posture is impeccable.

I think the Duchess of Cornwell has the same time of cape. The skirt and top would look fine on their own. Absolutely love the shoes.

During the Golden Age of Spain (16th century) part of Spanish court dress was a short cape somewhat similar to Letizia's cape. The court dress was black with gold or silver embroidery along the edges. The growth of the area where Spanish is spoken (outside Europe) started in the 16th century. My guess is that here, as many times before, Letizia has found inspiration in history.
Even without the historical connection I find the cape ok, with only minor changes in details. (cape length shorter, opening of "sleeves" should start lower)

I think is the colour that doesnot work: black combined with red is seldom nice.

That is what I think, black is too strong color to go with another strong color like red.
I know not many people would agree to that.

It is very from the South of Spain though, very typical flamenco (red and black). It is a wink to Sevilla where they are.
