King Albert and Queen Paola attended a Te Deum mass in Brussels

On November 15, 2019, King Albert II, Queen Paola and Prince Lorenz of Belgium attended a Te Deum mass held on the occasion of the King’s Feast ( Koningsdag) at Saint Michael and St Gudula Cathedral in Brussels. The King’s Feast is celebrated on November 15, a day that commemorates the feast of Saint Leopold and the feast of Saint Albert, in the German Liturgical and Roman Catholic calendars. Traditionally, a Te Deum is sung and also, a private religious service is held. The day has been celebrated annually since 1866, when Leopold II declared it. Since the birth of the Belgian State, 3 of 7 kings have been named Leopold and another two, Albert.

  2. Queen Paola is still so stylish. Love the burgundy accessories picking out the colour in the coat and she even manages to make flat shoes, while still not elegant, at least look smart.
Nice to see the couple still together and still carrying out royal duties.

    1. Completely agree
Well she is Italian and probably that's why she has always been so stylish and elegant and has a perfect feeling for matching colours

    2. Elegance surely does not depend on the height of the heel. Our feet are not designed to wear 5 inch heels...

  3. I find it very touching that King Albert holds Queen Paoli's hand as they exit the cathedral. The queen's coat is a beautifully colored plaid, the deep aubergine matching her shoes and bag. She exhibits a very sweet smile when presented with the bouquet. She is a beautiful lady.

  4. Oh, I'm glad she had a warm coat on -- and I've never seen such elegant flats! -- but I just want to run up and give her a burgundy-hued faux fur hat, she looks so cold in that wind. It is lovely that the couple chatted with people who had come out in the chilly weather to see them.

    1. Dear Teresa, I totally agree with you, Queen Paola is an elegant lady and shows us that one can age gracefully without exaggerated cosmetic interference.

  8. Should hAve been there: Princess Astrid, Prince Laurent, Princess Claire. It is a shame they did not attend. All of them get a remuneration for their Royal role.

This was when Princess Astrid had a broken spine and the reason why Princess Claire did not appear in public for 2 years was because she had cancer.
