The Countess of Wessex visited Brainwave Therapy Centre

Yesterday, The Countess of Wessex visited Cheshire to attend the celebration for the 10th anniversary of Brainwave Therapy Centre. Brainwave provides educational and physical therapies to children with disabilities for the purpose of helping them gain greater independence. At the centre, The Countess also met with physiotherapists to receive information about their work for both children and children's carers.

  1. As lovely as Sophie is, that Oscar de la Renta needs a good hairdo, from the neck down is couture, from the neck up is a disaster, a hair clip is not the best solution for a bad hair day.

    1. Certainly - I agree. Maybe invest in a nice wig for those days?

    2. Cherry B, tend to agree with your thoughts on the hair. She has done this a number of times lately, it's almost like her hair has been just an afterthought, rather than styled for the occasion.... JT

    3. While the hair clip may not be the best option, at least she took a moment to put it on. Maxima could learn from this.

  3. Bad hair day or not, she is still my favorite, hard working royal Brit. But what does Edward do with his time? Or Andrew? Are they, like Anne, working hard but nobody knows about it?

  4. Lovely dress. Sophie always seems so warm and caring. As for her hair, it's still better than Queen Maxima's.

  5. @ Tildie, why when somebody makes a statement purely about fashion, some of you feel compelled to come up with “ WHATABOUTRISM “ , that is what children use to get away with things, what about so and so? The comment is about Sophie’s hair, not Maxima’s , and the comparison doesn’t take away from the fact that her hair looks like somebody stepping out from the gym.
And this has nothing to do with her being nice or dedicated, is just about looking polished and appropriate, that’s what we discuss here.

  6. And, I meant to say WHATABOUTISM ... the autocorrect strikes again.
And by the way ladies, using Máxima as the measure for good/bad hair, it's a rather low bar. So now when somebody critiques a hairstyle, you are going to start screaming.. what about Máxima????

  8. Great cause and so heartwarming to see how much she is involved.

Sophie is probably stuck between the young royals (Kate, Meghan, Eugenie...) and the slightly older generation (Anne), so it seems to me she isn’t in a spot where’s she’s just fully comfortable with who she is (it doesn’t help that media is constantly comparing her to the younger royal ladies). AG 54, she shouldn’t be waffling around trying to find her style (imo).

Case in point: this outing. She used to do much better. I am all for reuse, but both the Alaïa jacket and the De La Renta dress have had their better days. She has an extensive wardrobe to select from and looks so much better in other outfits. Like many others, I am also puzzled by her hair. What is wrong with a shorter cut? I think she’d look great with a medium bob (a la Anna Wintour) or a slightly different length at least. Not everyone has thick hair that is suitable for long wavy cuts. She isn’t doing herself any favour by trying to make this length work.

Sophie has great work ethic with little amount of fuss. Love her ensemble, but not so keen on her hair. She is a refreshing breath of fresh hair. Really like her.
