Duke and Duchess of Sussex's visit to South Africa, 10th Day

On the tenth day of their South Africa tour, on October 2, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited Graca Machel, widow of the late Nelson Mandela in Johannesburg. The Duke last met with Mrs Machel during his visit to South Africa in 2015. Afterwards, the Duke and Duchess attended a Creative Industries and Business Reception held at the British High Commissioner's residence in Johannesburg. Then, the Duke and Duchess met with South Africa's President, Cyril Ramaphosa and his wife, Tshepo Motsepe at Presidential Official Residence in Pretoria. I prefer this dress to the one she wore the other day that is similar both in style and color. Some pictures the dress appears to fit better than other, I wonder if different under garments could have improved the fit. I love her hair and her earrings.

  2. Nice hair, nice shoes, nice earrings, nice smile but really don't like this dress. It is most unflattering making her look far bigger than she is and the weirdly tied belt doesn't help. It's also tight across the bust. Is it the same one that she wore for the photocall when Archie was born? I know this was a very pared back wardrobe but she must have something that would suit her better than this.

    1. That one was white. This one is from her Australia tour.

    2. The dress would certainly be unflattering for many women, but Megan wears it quite nicely.

Today Meghan really looks lovely again. Like the dress she looks very nice with her hair up. Nice interaction with Mrs Grace Machel widow of Nelson Mandela. Loved her blue patterned dress.Sadly today is their last day in S Afrika.

  5. It’s not the Banana Republic dress she wore the other. It’s a House of Nonie dress she wore awhile ago. (Much more flattering).

At the time of writing, there is a Banana Republic Model dress together with the same dress that the Duchess wore a day or two ago. However the dress shown with Mrs. Mandela above is clearly not the same dress as the Banana Republic one. This one fits much better and looks much nicer, and the length is lovely.
Mrs. Mandela's outfit is also very nice.

  8. Agree about Ms. Machel, she looks so regal. Now to Meghan, I love this dress, and although similar , it's so much more structured and well tailored than the than the Banana Republic, I also prefer this length, I must admit that I am partial to trench dresses. I still would have added some color on the shoe department.
    Like the hair and earrings.

Oh I like this trench dress much more than the BR version from the other day. The length is perfect. (V.M.)

  10. Why does the duchess wear the belt so high? In my opinion, it would flatter her more at the waistline.

    1. She is wearing the belt at her smallest place since having Archie. It is not just for comfort, it is common in fashion to emphasize the narrowest point on a woman's body. Think of the empire waist. As she regains her natural waist, she will lower her belts again.

Now that is a cool dress Graca Machel !! Looks good on you, stylish, not over the top, nor understated, just right. :)

  12. Love the trench, and beautiful earrings. I do prefer a different color shoe, but that us just my opinion.

Catherine has worn the same dress in more than one color. People tend favor certain colors and styles that they feel look best of them.

That being said I think this dress and her Banana Republic one are very similar and I don't love her wearing them within days of each other.

    2. As opposed to the DoC's numerous renditions of coat dresses/coats of the same design-different color or similar design-same color?

The Duchess looks nice, not really a fan of trench dresses though. Graca looks beautiful. Love her dress, she looks so elegant. The colour and length were spot on. She looked amazing.

  16. Grace Macel’s dress is amazing.. all the cut out n sew parts... great artistry. Not sure about the sash tied at her tummy in untidy way is so good for the Duchess.
