  1. Frederik - again a too tight suit. Joachim is far better dressed. The ladies? Mary's dress is too prim, like a governess, and Marie's decolletage is too deep.

    1. It’s does! Her hair down would have softened the prim & proper look of the dress and its exquisite fabric. Mary looks Ike s governess which is too bad.

  3. Lovely to see this "fab four" together again. Princess Marie's dress is nice and suits her well but Mary's dress is gorgeous---love the colour, the fabric, the style. She looks amazing. The men are both looking good here too.

It's great to see all of the family members together. I love Princess Mary's dress (by an Aussie designer https://www.mossandspy.com.au/collections/all-dresses/products/elodie-dress?variant=19474897961027) - Looks like a wonderful event.

I like Mary's dress here as well. It doesn't 'wow' me at first sight like the polka dot dress did, but it's a very nice dress as can be seen from the close-up fabric detail and she wears it well. I also like the colours very much. Her hair gives her a bit of an 'Audrey Hepburn' look and that diamond or diamanté band at the back of her updo (not visible in these photos but very visible in videos of the event) is stunning.

Princess Marie looks very beautiful (when doesn't she?). I think she makes that dress look better than it is.

I agree. Mary's hair looks too severe. This is a rare miss for her. Marie looks fabulous.

  7. Not a huge fan of Mary's hairstyle with this dress although I like the dress and her accessories. I feel Marie's would suit her better if she held her shoulders back. The way she stands in these photos makes her dress look a little frumpy on her..otherwise I love the fact they are all together again for a special occasion..

  8. I think they both look fantastic. Marie's dress is dramatic and sophisticated, love the décolletage and I think that the hair is just on point, and adds playfulness to an outfit that could easily become a little gothic. On the other hand Mary's dress is all about light and whim, so delicate and superbly tailored, again the hair is perfect, a little severity as not to look too prissy, and away from the shoulders, so we can enjoy the detail on the collard and sleeves.
    Love them both!!

    I don't like either Mary's or Marie's dress choices:
Mary's for summery and Marie's neckline a little vulgar and the metallc dress too bling bling like ... and they should have chosen Danish design, the visit to France is arranged in connection with the promotion of Danish design, trade/ export, culture etc, IMO.

  10. Love Mary's dress, much more to my preference than Marie's. However, I find Marie's softer make up much more flattering, Mary looks a bit "hard" here - the strong red and heavy eyeliner are jarring with the pretty dress.

I love love love CP Marys dress!!! She is by far the best dressed royalty in the world! CP Frederik always handsome and it’s nice to see that Joakim has a single buttoned jacket, I am not a fan of his habit to wear double buttoned ones. Marie also nicely dressed this evening.

AnnieM, I totally agree with you, great to see the Danish version, of the "fab four." And I wish Mary will have her hair cut, and styled, her long hair, really make's her looking 20 years older.

Why do you think that long hair on middle aged women make them look older? I am curious because I have long hair myself :-)

Do you really think she looks 67 years old? Well I don't. But I'm not big fan of either dresses. Mary's a bit old fashion and Marie's trashy. - Siri

My sentiments exactly. Try and look for a photo showing the back of her hair. She is wearing a broad diamond or diamanté band/clip to hold up the bun and it looks fantastic with the whole look of her appearance. So polished and regal.

There’s a lot going on with Mary’s outfit here. She went (in my opinion) from one extreme to the other with the two sartorial choices she made for the dinner events. The black polka dotted dress was like ‘un jour dans la campagne’, not an evening outfit. This one seems to me over the top. Very busy dress, lots of details and colour and tailoring details, plus complicated (and unflattering) updo , busy (somehow cheap looking) earnings, harsh makeup.... Not sure what to look at first. Even the midi/maxi length of the dress adds to the visual clutter. Elegance isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when looking at her. And she can do so much better!

Marie has always struck me as typical French classic, not trying too hard- type of elegance. Not one thing is too much (she may have done that Coco Chanel thing before getting out the door and looked in the mirror to take one something off). Perhaps that’s also why Mary’s outfit looks sooo busy by contrast. Back to Marie, slightly too much décolltee, but we’ve certainly seen worse on other royals this will not yield to a fashion malfunction! like in one case not too long ago...). Christopher Kane surely knows how to cut a beautiful gown and Marie wears it well. Slightly darker than I would like it (indeed, like someone said earlier, almost gothic feel), however the hair certainly softened the overall look.

Someone (in my mind that should be Mary!) ought to tell Frederick to get a properly tailoring suit. It’s quite surprising that he hasn’t grown up from the teenager stage of ‘look at me, I have big guns and a well honed body’ stage (I say that lovingly, my nephew is at that stage and I find it funny, also makes for a great tease - but only for his age and sadly he isn’t first in line to become king of any kind:)...). Joachim looks so much better and regal than his brother.

Mary's dress, hair, and makeup are sublime. However, I wonder why the details at the front neckline, are not carried around to the back of the neck. It seems a tad strange. Still an overall lovely gown.... JT

Marie looks very good, elegant and "jolie", Mary is a piece of art here, quite in the sense how Cherry Blossom wrote it: a carefully balanced composition of whimsical dress and nonwhimsical hair, in order not to look overloaded.

I'm probably the only one who does not like Mary's dress, far too prissy. I like Marie's dress a lot better.

  25. Mary's dress is pretty, but I think she styled it very poorly. Worst is the hairstyle as many others have pointed out already. And then I'm questioning the need of a belt for her dress. I'm usually all for a defined waist and would put a belt on any dress that had a waist seam, but this dress here really had looked better without a belt. The shawl to cover neck and shoulders seems unneccessary as both neck and shoulders are already well covered. And lastly, those bright red lips clash with the delicate white-and-blue of her outfit. I would have gone for a more neutral lip stick colour.

I don't care one bit for Marie's dress. Her hair and earrings are lovely though.

  26. Mary looks fantastic, the dress reminds me of Royal Copenhagen. How is this dress too busy, it's lace and flowers like many dresses we see all the time. Since when is a bun bad? How is her makeup severe? She looks amazing. Love Marie's too, it's different and so fresh. The metallic is stunning. - Capt. Marvel
