    1. She represents the Danish crown, there is no need for an excuse. Apart from this, I think the hosts aren‘t wearing cheap clothes. So it‘s also a question of etiquette.

    2. Well, she is no Lischen Müller - and no Meghan neither. The Prada will never come out of fashion and the Vilshenko is also an all time classic. And, the jacket is not a C but only à la C.

Not so expensive I think . Mary is a princess representing the queen abroad. The dress is not Dior or Louis Vuitton or Givenchy and the jacket is not Chanel or Valentino.

Why bring up the cost? But you are right a lot of money for 3 pieces, you and i are not paying for it.

    2. They are paus by the Danish taxpayers,
How do you know I’m not danish?
Last year she acquired clothes for
      $ 2 143 008.
I find this hard to accept.

Mim, I am with you in this...... It is very hard to digest that these people spend enormous amounts of tax payers money on designer clothes. The relevance of their foreign trips and representaive jobs is questionable to say the least......

Lily T. I respect your opinion, but if they are so irrelevant, what are you doing following this blog??

But in the end all representatives of a country, elected or not, do life on tax money. You could doubt the system of a hereditary monarchy because this means an automatism on which the citizen has no influence. But there seems no way around the fact that every servant of a state is payed on tax money. Christine.

Thanks Lily T, kudos to you for following their expenses, although it must be very time consuming to find the price of every item and subtract repeats, or possible gifts, not to mention whatever they wear on occasions where you aren’t even informed, do you do it for all the royals? So happy somebody is doing that job, it has been keeping my friend awake at night, now we all can breathe a sight of relief.
      Have a good one😂

  8. Mim, really? She is representing her country and the Crown, she doesn't have to have an "alibi" as you put it.

Hi Cherry Blossom and Mim, I think a note regarding cost is a valid addition to a blog on fashion. Fashion is undeniably consumerism and price adds an interesting fact to understanding outfits, decisions and the people wearing them. I also appreciate your analytic comments, Cherry Blossom. Mim’s addition here is as valid as yours across many posts in this interesting global blog. Best wishes to you both, Jemmi

    4. Hello Jemmi, I think that noting that an outfit looks great because is low cost, or making an observation that a particular Valentino or Dior doesn't meet the standard for the price, is definitely a valid point, but I have been reading these blogs for a long time, and that comment is just a prelude to start the controversy regarding the monarchies and how they spend their monies. So here are my 2 cents on the subjec, firstly that debate is a lot deeper than this fashion blog should cover, and people tend to oversimplify without much analysis. High quality firms also produce national revenue and employment, and the patronage of the royals, helps promote this industry. Also most of their trips are just ambassadorships to prepare the field for the politicians and business people. I firmly believe that as long as they don't go over their yearly stipend , they should be able to spend it as they wish. I am sure that those that don't support this institution, will definitely disagree with me.

Both outfit are really nice. I like the style of Vilshenko dresses, they are so right for Mary's Australian hippie side, lovely. And the other outfit reflects her professional side.

The coast is reasonable as long as it is not bespoke. CP Mary looks simply elegant .

Mary is the crown princess of Denmark. The coast of her outfits is almost the same of what the upper class ladies wearing all over the world . Princesses of some countries wear much more expensive clothes than Mary .

  12. Not sure about this one--there's something about the pattern. I think it may be the horizontal line across the bust or the curved and linked pattern on the skirt. Wouldn't rate it as a miss but I've certainly seen Crown Princess Mary in many more flattering outfits.

  13. How very lovely is the style, dress and look of a future queen who represents her country so well. It looks like all of the people in the photos are trying to look their best. With a good, shaped haircut, one only needs to wash and comb it neatly. I have in mind a few royal women who seem to care very little about maintaining their best look. It isn't rocket science, just some good products. See the royal visit to Morocco last month.

We've seen this dress before and while the details a lovey up close, from a distance I don't like the optical tricks this dress plays on your eyes. It's like a Rorschach Test.
