The Duchess of Sussex hosted a breakfast meeting for South African female activists

On Thursday, the Duchess of Sussex hosted a breakfast meeting for a group of South African female activists during her stay in Cape Town. At the breakfast meeting, the Duchess received information about the work the activists have done in their communities, and about the problems they face, including violence against women. Among the invited activists, there were Lindiwe Mazibuko, Sonja De Bruyn Sebotsa, Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng, Sophia Williams-De Bruyn, Mbali Ntuli, Nompendulo Mkhatshwa, Siviwe Gwarube, Dr Mamphela Ramphele and Judy Sikuza.

At the meeting, the Duchess described Williams-De Bruyn as an inspiration to both herself and all women in the world. In 1956, Sophia Williams-De Bruyn led 20,000 women to march on the Union Buildings in Pretoria in protest against apartheid laws. She is the last living leader of the march, which she led at the age of 18.

The Duchess is doing a lot good work and will never be boring.

  2. I love this, that´s a very pretty outfit. A small necklace with a simple silver or white (pearl?) pendant would have made it perfect.

Agree, Vanessa. I always love Meghan's jewelry choices and would love to see a necklace or bracelet with this outfit.

    2. Spot on, looks less polished without a necklace.

A very flattering outfit. D. Meghan suits black, and the graphic stripes of the skirt add interest. It’s a good length too. I think she looks great here, (V.M .)

C'est probablement la plus belle tenue qu'elle porte depuis son accouchement.

Like this skirt a lot. Maybe she should put her hair out of the face?. Her makeup is flawless.

  8. She looks great! What an excellent opportunity for her to learn from this group of esteemed women!

  9. She'd look better imo if she wore the top over the skirt, like the model does. I understand she does good work, but it should start at home.

The hair messes up the entire outfit. She has a lovely face, wish she would learn to tuck the strangle hair, tie it back, lift it up, something. Not sure about the skirt, makes her look thicker in the waist area.... jt

    1. Yes, the top tucked under the skirt, makes her waist looks exactly how it is now, and by covering the area it would've disguised it a little. Her body has changed and it seems to be going back in a natural way for a first time mother in her late thirties, it may never be the same, but somehow I think that she is fine with showing herself as it is right now, she could easily wear spanx and have clothes tailored to hide her new figure, instead she is wearing dresses from her pre baby days, knowing perfectly well that people would compare the before and after pictures. I am glad that other women can see that it's OK not to have a six pack a month after delivery, and we should stop ignoring the pressure put upon us to have perfect bodies.

  11. What a great outfit. It’s simple but flattering. Only complaint is her hair which looks so much better, tied back or in an undo.

Meghan looks great;however not ideal to be associated with political activists. The role of the royal family is to be apolitical.Considering there was a group who thought Prince Harry should say sorry for the apartheid situation.

@3:46, well, Nelson Mandela was a political activist, and most monarchs have met with him, right? And many more throughout history, Mohatma Gandhi comes to mind. I don't see anything wrong meeting with women that for the most part are involved in social issues regarding social injustice, that has nothing to do with a political agenda and doesn't put the Royal Family on any side, if that was the case they won't ever meet with political figures. I just get a feeling that the issue is that is Meghan and some can't stand that she is not a flower vase.

I like Meghan immensley;she is highly intelligent; but people have an agenda;so I suggest that people use the royals for their own ends.Anyway she is a smart woman;her clothes is on point.

Yes, agree completely with @cherry as for postpregnancy body and would like to add: neither suspected pregnancies (Stephanie, Vioctoria ...) nor postpregnancy midriffs should be topic here. - I love this skirt and think that wearing the top inside preserves the stripes as a whole, wearing it outside would have ruined the central effect of this skirt. As for the hair, I always prefer it back and away from her delicately built face and beautifully arched forehead. Ponytail, bun, whatever - but not long.

    1. I agree with your comments about suspected and post-pregnancy midsections. There is too much focus on their bodies. I think Meghan is sending a valuable message to women that it is normal and perfectly alright to have your body adjust over the course of several months after giving birth. Women have far too much pressure on them to strive for the perfect body in an unreasonable amount of time.
