Norwegian Crown Prince family held a dinner at Skaugum

On the occasion of Princess Ingrid Alexandra's confirmation, Crown Prince family held a dinner for the members of Norwegian Royal family and close friends of the family at Skaugum, the residence of the Crown Prince family. At the dinner, Crown Princess Mette-Marit wore a new floral print linen and silk gown by Zimmermann. Princess Ingrid Alexandra wore a new pleated crochet floral maxi dress by Self-Portrait. (The Duchess of Cambridge had worn the same model of that dress by Self-Portrait before).

  1. Love Mette-Marit's gown! It looks lovely on her, incorporating but muting and softening the frilliness and prairie vibe that she is often criticized for. Rather magical, imo. That style of sleeve is ravishing (I think it's called a "bishop sleeve").

I mostly love the dresses made by Zimmerman, unfortunately they are not easy to get in Germany. The model Mette wears is very nice. DoC looked better in Self Portrait than the young NOrwegian princess, it's not a Teenager-dress. Frieda

    1. In my opinion it's a question of the shape of the dress not of the age. A dress with a high neck looks better on a woman with a small bust.

All three ladies look beautiful. Love the Zimmerman dress on Mette-Marit. Ingrid looks wonderful. I find her to always be stylishly dressed yet appropriate for the event and her age.

I think Princess Sofia has worn that self-portrait dress as well.
The modern gold parure (without the tiara ofc) looks wonderful with Queen Sonja's outfit.
And Princess Ingrid is really turning into a beautiful young woman!

Ingrid's dress is white as it is her confirmation. As the family are Lutheran to celebrate the first Holy Communion;and the understanding of the scripture and the Gospel;and the passage within the Lutheran Church;similar to a graduation you are confirmed it is the next step you take after baptism. The dress is lovely I like the bodice.

  17. Lovely family photos, I just love how happy Ingrid´s parents and half brother look.

All ladies did also well with clothes. This was probably the first time we saw Ingrid in long dress. Also maybe we have seen so many back to Prairie dresses by Mette Marit that I at least have grown to like them with her.

  18. The winner here is Sonja, hands down. She is one classy lady, her outfit is perfect.

Ingrid Alexandra looks good in white, but I don´t like that dress. I too think that it is not a teenager dress. Also, it is too long for her.

Mette-Marit´s dress is way too fussy. And her hairstyle is super unflattering.

Unfortunately, I get night gown vibes from both dresses. They both look like old-fashioned nightgowns like from the 1850s or something. The light colours, floaty fabric, intricate details, long sleeves and high necks... Not a good recipe if you want a fresh and contemporary look.

One of the very few times when I don’t like the Queen’s outfit. It’s an unusual design for an evening attire and with that wide belt it only accentuates the fact that it’s not a good fit. A rare miss, as I said.

MM looks very nice IMO. She has a propensity for floral gown, but this one actually works (unlike many of her other choices). It also seems to me she is improving her health, I truly hope that is the case. I always loved her smile and for a while I think there was some sadness behind it. Now I feel it’s a more happy one, nothing holding her back from a true joyfulness.

Ingrid Alexandra is a mature young lady and such the dress is not an inappropriate choice. Not sure it’s a flattering one, but let’s not always jump at comparisons for such scenarios (yes, both Catherine and Sophia looked very good in the same dress; however I-A is still a teenager and her body is not something we should be commenting about).

Overall, looks like a wonderful event, very happy to see the family enjoying it so much!

Lovely family celebration. They all chose their outfits according to personal taste, which is the way it should be. However, the Ingrid's dress is a little old for her, or makes her look older. Not quite sure why. Anne

  21. MM and IA look beautiful. MM does love a good prairie dress and the colors in this one are perfect for her. The Queen’s dress has too many ruffles. It’s just a touch fussy and immature for her. MM’s oldest son has grown into a handsome man. He looks very much, to me, like a blond Rupert Friend. Hubba hubba!
