Very nice color one really can't do wrong, that said I don't like the front part of the dress, somehow it make it look shapeless. The shoes are OK don;t care much for the plastic also nice clutch but love the bracelet.

The shapeless thing is what makes it so elegant and edgy at the same time..

      So vintage...

    2. Agree - it´s shapeless, a bedsheet with sleeves. It´s a total miss for me too.
As for the shoes - I don`t like them either. It´s the plastic part that makes them look cheap and that is poison to a healthy foot climate, and the foot sweat condensing at the plastic is not a pretty sight.
I think the lady in the plum dress and the lady in the red jumpsuit both look very nice.

The lady in the plum dress? In Spain the media are saying that is "unfortunate"..., so different concepts..
She is 40 years old and here she looks like 55....normally she dresses better..

That's a mighty big slit in the front of her skirt again, that's three in the past week. And those shoes do not fit her feet at all; I wonder how she can walk/stand in them, not much support and they look very uncomfortable. /Julie/

This is a rare miss for me too. The dress just reminds me of a bath robe that is tied loosely and I do not care for the messy hairstyle. While her shoes are pretty they do look like they could be painful. Her jewelry and makeup are great.

I don't get this dress, sorry.... It is too loose, too much fabric in the front, she looks like she is swallowed by the dress. The best dressed lady for me is the one in the deep magenta dress, with what looks like a "mini cape", she stole the Queen's thunder IMO. Letizia's hair, makeup and jewelry, on the other hand, are divine! She never fails in this department. The shoes look gorgeous from afar, not so much in the close-ups, the plastic bit lets them down. I know that the plastic seems to be having its best day recently, but I didn't expect that from Manolo. In addition, I find her feet and toes look in terrible pain, toes are bruised, and you can see that the long time of wearing skyrocketing heels has damaged her feet, you can see in the way she positions her foot on the floor, it's not straight. What a pity, the pains that women subject themselves to in the name of fashion/perfect silhouette… I speak from experience, I damaged the ball of my foot so badly now I cannot wear any kind of heels anymore

Fun fact, the wife of J. Peñafiel, is at least 70 years old. She showed up wearing the identical pair of Manolos with those 10cm heels!. They must be comfortable and stable for an older lady to take such risk. Peñafiel has made is clear that he dislikes the Queen, her fashion and everything else about her.

  15. Love, love, love (as usual). Classic, with a little edge (as per her style). She just hits it out of the park with this formula. Add in the jewelry (those cuffs are one of my favorite pieces). As for the shoes, fabulous choice.

The dress looks like an interpretation of classic tuxedo dressing with the oversize draping as the main feature, and just one closure at the hip. In some pictures the extended lapels appear to be made of a shinier material. Since the wrap at the bust was not secured, she could be seen holding the edges together when they arrived. According to one of the Spanish 'rags' she later asked for safety pins. The Queen's sense of fashion is always interesting because she takes risks. Last year's body skimming jumpsuit gives way to this years loose flowing look. The openings at the legs add to the feminine touch. Hair, make up and jewelry, well done.
Behind every design is it's designer who had the idea. It is more educational in fashion terms to look at what they are trying to convey, and what period the inspiration is drawn from.
Within this week we have seen the queen go from sneakers, to kitten heels, to stilettos, a clear indication that this woman knows how to walk in her own shoes. Manolo would not have a worldwide reputation if his shoes were uncomfortable, especially at that price. - MB-

  17. I am in love with this dress, tuxedo meets Vanderbilt wrap around dress with a vintage retro touch, the loose silky fabric makes it ideal whether you are thin or not, granted the pure white can give a vibe of labcoat, but not in this case, I can't imagine it on any other color, also under 300€ and from a local designer. The hair, makeup and jewels are just on point. The shoes, oh my beloved Manolos... I am not going to argue about podiatry, we are all aware of the issues with heels, but truth be told is not like she is running to catch the bus, the amount of time on her feet on this particular act can't be that devastating.
I read on the Spanish press that she had a malfunction with the dress not staying put and opening at the bust, she called for a couple of safety pins and fixed the issue, although this can happen to anybody, I am surprised that the people on her team don't carry fashion tape, or that she doesn't have it handy before leaving the palace, I highly recommend it. All in all , she looked fabulous..

Insuperable. Bellísima.

  22. I'm with you, Shinystuffbuff. Letizia's wardrobe this summer has been amazing and this outfit just isn't up to the same level. Agree with Anon 3:07 that it seems as if there is too much material and that it swamps the Queen's petite frame. She also does seem to be holding the neckline together and it's not s disaster but just not as good as many of the others. Love the shoes, bag, jewellery and hair. The red jumpsuit and pink/burgundy dress are both nice--don't understand why the Spanish media would be slating the burgundy dress--it's not exciting but it's such a lovely colour that it makes up for the plainness of the dress.

Because the Spanish media look for differenrs things...They hate Varela , Hugo Boss and those things....Spanish fashion is very edgy as the country so they ask for Spanish brands and they want a woman who takes risk...
She is doing what the country is asking for...
She must dress for her country not for people in other countries as Maxina, Victoria or Mete Marit...every country is diferent and wants differents things.

The web of the brand does not work because the amount of people.

Some also think that Maxima dress odd and in the Netherlands they love it, the same Mette-Marit...or Victoria in her dresses.....

It seems that people in this blog set up the rules for every country.I do not know where you come from but every country has its culture and the Royals must follow it. They do not read this blog they only have idea of their own more important journalist or what people is saying...
But they must follow the people who pay for them not foreign opinions and if they insist it is that's right there.
And I speak for other countries too.

    1. I think there is a difference between culottes and wide legged cropped trousers. I am a big fan of wide legged cropped pants in particular, but they must be executed well. The biggest problem with culottes, which are shorter and wider, is the cut and style. Personally, I think Letizia and Kate both wear cropped styles well. Maxima is an example of someone that just can't get it right. I think a lot of what we read here are personal opinions, not impartial opinions. I do try to say if my opinion is based on a personal preference, but if it is an outfit I would not wear myself, I can still see the positives from a fashion perspective (if there are any). I am not so sure that everyone does that. I would keep that in mind when reading what others write.

Nah... she is admirably trying hard to show Spanish designers, but I am not impressed. Possibly the culture there can see more positives than I can. Also, not securing the dress seems a rather terrible ‘wardrobe malfunction’. In particular cause this time it’s not a sports event (no excuse at a sports event either, certainly) - but rather a cultural one.

I guess now she will know better next time. Overall my (rather uninformed) opinion isn’t a positive one. But brownie points for trying. Certainly not boring or predictable.
