From their fashion choices at this engagement it looks like Victoria is quite a bit older than Mary, when Mary is actually five years older. Victoria's dress and hairstyle age her. Mary looks young and chic. I dont usually care for jumpsuits but this one looks great on her!

  2. I wish Victoria would get away from these horrid print dresses. They age her by 20 years.

    1. No more little house on the prairie dresses. She can do better.

    2. :) yes, she can. Her gala dresses are always impressing.

  3. Ohh, we are back to normal now, I see. I guess it is fashionable right now with these flowery dresses with grand-ma feeling about them, I ll just sit and wait that time will pass so that Victoria can look her best again. And for Mary; nice hairdo, but the slight retro-wibe is not really my cup of tea either. But better than Victoria. Best here; the lady in white/pink suit.

  4. Mary has the cooler, edgier outfit, but I don´t really like it. I´m not a fan of grey, especially when it´s only grey we see, as it tends to look so lifeless. But the bigger problem is the 80s retro style, and I´m just not ready for that. I don´t think I´ll ever be ready for 80s fashion to come back.
The outfit looks lite a jumpsuit, but I think it´s two pieces. I wonder if she tucked in the jacket into the trousers?

As for Victoria - I´m grateful for some colour, and I like this warm autumn red. But that´s about all the positives I´ve got. The style of the dress is very frumpy, that´s what a near-retirement librarian would have worn in the 70s. Frilly details, busy print, no real shape to it, and unflattering length. She also looks so closed up with that high neck and long sleeves. (I don´t know whether she had the sleeves shortened or just pushed them up, but it´s an improvement in either case.) I haven´t made up my mind yet whether I like the brown shoes and belt, and whether the light grey bag works with them.

I´m disappointed with both outfits. Both look try-hard and costume-y, and they clash in some weird way.

    Anyway, only my opinion.

    1. I very much agree with you, Vanessa, particularly wrt Victoria's dress.

It is indeed hard to tell whether Mary's outfit is a jumpsuit; on first sight I assumed that it was. If it is not, I would love to see her pair the top -- which I like a lot -- with a nice pair of trousers or a pencil skirt (I probably say that because I dislike jumpsuits or anything that looks like a jumpsuit :-). The lower portion of the garment, generous in the hip area and tapering sharply toward the ankle, is imo something only the slimmest can wear successfully and even at that, clearly requires painstakingly meticulous tailoring. Mary makes it work -- no surprise there -- but I wouldn't mind if she decided it's a little too retro and maybe belongs in the back of her closet :-).

    2. P.S. I just noticed the picture of the model that shows we're not dealing with a jumpsuit, but with a jacket and trousers (yay) :-D

    3. Agree with you both--the outfits area disappointment. Yes for colour but Victoria's dress is fussy and frilly and of a length that looks frumpy. Mary's outfit is drab but I'm not sure I would love it even in a brighter colour

  5. Victoria finally changed her hairstyle. It's not a big change, but still looks fresh, and frames her face nicely. Makeup is natural and beautiful. But this dress.. It's awful. She should relly start to wear feminine well tailored clothes. This type of dress is for women who try to hide extra weight or pregnant women. And it's really boring on Victoria. Mary, on the other hand, chose very smart outfit, but her mekup is too shiny. I'm not her fan but she chooses good outfits more often than Victoria. I liked Victoria's style when she was pregnant with Estelle. Ponytails, lots of jewellery,heels..After that she became boring, like her mother chooses clothes for her or something..

  6. Victoria looks like her usual self, it looks that she favors these prints that they won't be so bad if the style was totally different, I can picture this fabric with a fitted bodice a little flair on the skirt , and short or elbow length sleeves, Mary is the epitome of chick, grey can wash you out, but she looks fabulous.

  7. I like both outfits the ladies are wearing. I keep in mind that Victoria will be the actual queen of a country and probably that is high in her mind, so that she is trying to dress more "stately" or "soberly." She may not feel the freedom to worry excessively about current styles. Her look has softened recently, her dress and hair are very pretty, and she just seems much happier. So she likes prints. They are lots more interesting than the Japanese boring suits. We all have different tastes. Printed dresses sure do allow for more comfortable and attractive seating in the front row. What if you had to face photographers constantly?

  8. Superbe combinaison pour Mary ; je ne suis pas tellement fan de la robe imprimée de Victoria !!!

  9. Victoria’s dress is quite trendy - but with boots only and without a belt. The misconception is to transform such a dress into business clothing. Either business or leisure ... Mary is doing better.

  11. Mary in less is more und très à la mode in grauem Glencheckjumpsuit.

  14. I did hold out a glimmer of hope with Victoria's dress yesterday. It was by no means perfect, but it was different. Now we are back to the same old look. I agree with the previous opinions--her style ages her. If she is going to stay married to these prints, she could at least learn what works best for her body, and how to accessorize. For example, wearing a dress that is drowing her in fabric then throwing on a belt to find her waist is not a better choice than wearing a dress that emphasizes her waist to begin with.

Mary looks so much more modern. I really like the way the model has styled the outfit, with grey shoes. Being grey, Mary can easily wear this outfit conservatively as she is doing here, or spice it up by adding some color in the shoes and bag, and roll the sleeves like the model has done. I love Mary's hair as well.

Quite surprisingly I like Mary's jumpsuit. Its a little too mouse grey for me and would be great with some pop of color but compared to hot mess of dress Victoria wear, then Mary looks modern, young and very pretty.

And - stop age shaming please, if I may say so. "It ages her" - as if age was something necessarily less nice and as if "looking yong(er)" something we should strive for.
