Queen Sonja visited the Helgeland Festival in Mosjøen

On July 6, 2019, Queen Sonja of Norway visited Helgeland Festival in Mosjøen, Vefsn. The festival is organized for the first time this year. Queen Sonja also attended the opening of the rock stairs called Helgelandstrappa. The staircase is made by sherpa from Nepal and goes to the top of Øyfjellet, 818 meters above sea level.

  1. The traditional costumes are really gorgeous -- as so many of the various lands' traditional costumes are. Wearing one would make me feel beautiful.

    Thank you for the new posting Helen, I am happy to leave UK.,
    I like great look of Queen and Norwegian folk costume. They’re really beautiful.
    Also I am interested in the staircase made by highland specialists Sherpa.

      The sherpas have been in Norway every summer the last 11 years and made over 100 staircases all over the country. In Nepal, which is one of the world's poorest countries what they earn making staircases in Norway this corresponds to over 100 annual salaries.The work in Norway has led to an increase in prosperity and a better life for the inhabitants of Khunde since everyone in the village has taken part in the increase in prosperity. They don't keep the income themselves it goes to the hole village. This have been such a good thing for Nepal that we now see sherpas all over Europe doing the same.

      Although your country is so far from my place, I would like to visit beautiful Norway someday.

    The Queen is busy as ever.I like the red cape on her. Also the national dress of the people of the region look great.

  5. Just celebrated her 82nd birthday. and she is already working, even in the summer holiday.

    She is a wonderful Queen! The red outfit looks nice on her.
