Nice to see the Family again at a photo session this time for the summer holiday's. I do must say these young Pss. have grown so fast and all of them are beautiful young ladies. I love their outfits, great look. The only thing I do have to say is, summer or winter sessions it always looks sort of staged. Maybe more freely doing something together or by each and that photographed would look less, I have to do this again. OMO. But very lovely pics.

  3. Lovely photos of this lovely family. The girls are growing up so fast. Maxima’s hair looks better than it’s done recently but the dress is okay at best. Like all the girls’ dresses, especially Amalia’s. So glad Alexia went for smart shoes instead of the ghastly trainers in the model photo. All the photos are lovely. Cheered up my evening. 😀

Well these photos are much better than the one in which they looked like the were in a police line-up. LOL. Nice summer dresses.

  5. I find the colors rather autumn like, definitely prefer the Spanish or Belgian style than this one. And I think that the shape of the dresses are not flattering for any of the ladies figures.

On a different subject forgive me for being a bug but I'm trying to connect with Cherry Blossom. Thank you!

Well somewhere in the world it must be Autumn right now, and likely someone from there is reading and contributing to this blog and appreciating the colours.
You can't say that the Dutch royal family doesn't think of everyone! :)

  6. Lovely family. Queen Maxima is beautiful and her girls are blossoming into fine young ladies. I like the dresses on the girls but I think the Queen's dress is out of step with the others.

Agree with Cynthia 9:56pm. And the king has always been very proud of his lovely daughters; they've become quite the young ladies. Máxima might end up being the short one in the family.

    Q. Maxima looks wonderful! Her hair is lovely, and her dress is a flattering fit and good length. The group portraits are relaxed and show all of the warmth of this beautiful family. (V.M. )

I thought the exact same thing! Except that nobody in the family seems to have Alexia's auburn hair, it's stunning on her.

At https://www.gettyimages.co.uk/photos/dutch-royal-family-summer-photo-call-in-the-hague?family=editorial&phrase=Dutch%20Royal%20Family%20Summer%20Photo%20Call%20In%20The%20Hague&sort=best#license you find a lot more pics of the occasion. you really can see, that they are close to each other. There are nice pics of queen and king together, they just look 'in love' :-)

Maximas outfit is just an oooo-k... she did much better before, but it's not really worse.
    The girls are beautiful
    The girls look lovely.

I don't diskike any of the dresses but they are too long, too mature for the girls. Also, the girls all look over-styled and too made-up. I know it's hard to dress teenagers but it's still not a good idea to go straight to women's fashion, skipping the teenager stage entirely.

    1. I think you are correct. These dresses are too mature for the girls. I've always felt there was something off about how they look when they are dressed up.

Can't agree more, these girls are overstyled.

Just try to put any average teenager in a dress that is "age appropriate" You soon will find out that's an impossible thing to do. And that's okay. They need to find their own style and the feeling for their own bodies.

    5. Vanessa and Gemma, I totally agree with you both. I've been thinking the same over the years, especially when looking at the pictures of King's Day and the summer photo sessions.
I never wanted to say this, 'cause I thought I was the only one and I didn't want to be bashed again.
      But here we are then!

    7. I see nothing wrong with Princess Ariane's dress: It's summery, well fitted and suitable for a teenage girl. What I don't like are the ankle bracelet shoes the queen and the two older girls are wearing. Also in the "shoe contest" Ariane wins . IMHO, of course.

I agree with you Sakurahime, out of the 3 girls I've always preferred Ariane's look. It's simple, fresh and always age appropriate. She also have the sweetest, warmest innocent smile, very much like Alexandra of Hanover.
Wilhem Alexander and Maxima have 3 beautiful girls, they seem so confident and well behaved. I just don't like the fact that as long as I can remember, the 2 elders have always worn too much make-up.

After teaching and counseling children/young people age 3-18 for over 25 years I would say that these dresses are age appropriate for Catharina-Amalia and Alexia. They are high school age girls and girls in Western Europe and the United States of America certainly wear these kinds of dresses. The dress on Ariane does have an older look to it for this time. It was more appropriate in the late 1800s.

  13. Ariana's dress would suit a 60-year old woman. Awful. I agree with Anonymous at 1.16 that the dresses are too long, too mature for those girls.

Who cares if they look staged. The family is beautiful. The girls dresses don't look too mature, if that's what they like then that's it. The girls have worn just as long dresses before and since when can't teenagers wear long dresses??? They're adorable.

  17. At the UN in NY Queen Maxima appeared in a sleeveless green summerdress and for this summer holiday photoshoot she chose a long sleeved autumn coloured dress. Both the dresses do not match the occasion. For anything else - they are a happy family together and that really counts a lot.

    1. The heat index in NYC exceeded 100 degrees F this week and most places have poor or no air conditioning. I was there two weeks ago and the coolest place was our hotel room; we were miserable! No ocean breezes when surrounded by high rise buildings.

The daughters have inherited the poor taste of their mother in how to dress appropriately. They however look like a happy family.
