  1. She's such a beautiful woman with good style. I'd love to see her with a shorter layered haircut with some highlights.

  2. Princess Victoria in her best, deeply interested, active and a wonderful smile.

  3. The jacket fits nicely but the lower half of her look just isn't particularly pleasing. I'll probably get flak for saying this, but I really don't think a lovely, intelligent future queen doesn't really need to look masculine to maintain power and respect. Her diligent work all over Sweden speaks volumes for her.

    1. Kh, I completely agree. I think Victoria looks androgynous when she wears those stiff suits with her hair severely pulled back.
Her style is very business like.
I think she could find a nice balance in between where she doesn't have to look like barbie doll but also not so masculine.

Nice suit, good color, but it would have looked better with Pumps not the anklet, OMO.

    1. Completely agree. The lower part of her outfit looks terrible.

  5. I like the colour combination in Victoria´s outfit, but that´s about it.
I don´t like the bow blouse, the boxy jacket, the strict bun. All of this reads librarian to me. I think women in general should leave double-breasted jackets to men; they´re just better suited for a male physique.
I´ll never like tight, cropped trousers for formal wear, and I don´t understand the existence of booties for any purpose, so the combination of those two is just terrible to my eyes. I don´t get why one would want one´s legs look stumpy and the trouser hems touching the upper ends of the shoes.
Also, her hand bag is bordering on luggage.

    1. Ankle boots don't flatter anybody. Why not a calf-high boot of nice, flexible leather or such? Pant legs would hang looser and better and they would cope with cold, wet spring weather. I live in the north, too, and realize the awful mess the weather can inflict.

  6. Boring outfit, boring hairdo, too big bag, pants too short. Only good thing are the earrings.
she really needs to update her wardrobe and her look. And I know she works hard, and she smiles and everybody loves her. But this blog is to comment about fashion, right?

Agree with you 100%. Her styling looks so boring and strict all the time. Also hate her hairstyle and harsh eyebrows. Makes her look kind of masculine. Does she fear that otherwise no one takes her seriosly?

I have to disagree with most of you here. I think she looks absolutely lovely and wonderful, not ”too masculine” or ”librarian” at all — and even if she did that surely would not be a problem, as librarians can be stunners, too :) and a woman may as well look ”masculine” as a man ”feminine”, for that matter. In fact, the more democratic and egalitarian a country is (as the Nordic countries are), the less you need to emphasize your gender in your dressing. So, it’s not a case of trying to make others to ”take her seriously” by dressing in a trouser suit but a case of being free to choose clothes that feel comfortable and suit one’s personality while being appropriate for the occasion at the same time. So it’s precisely because she doesn’t have to fear anything that she can choose those ”more masculine” clothes as well. After all, women have been wearing trousers for a long time now, it shouldn’t be a problem for anyone anymore.

As for the model of the trousers, when you have a curvy and muscular figure like Victoria has, wider pants may look and feel oddly wide on you (which I know from my own experience), whereas on a skinnier figure (like Kate for example) they drop straight down from your waist and may thus feel more comfortable.

One should also remember that here in the north anklets surely are a better choice at this time of the year than pumps. The sun may be shining, but temperatures are still well below +10 Celsius.

And finally, as for her hair, I just can’t comprehend why so many people have a problem with it. She has a naturally beautiful deep colour in her hair, no need to resort to artificial highlights with it. Her hair probably gets some natural highlights during the summer instead. There is nothing wrong with a bun, either. I think she has found a hairstyle that really suits her features and is practical too, keeps it away from your face. And with the kind of bun she often wears she doesn’t have to use huge amounts of hairspray or other chemicals to keep it in place.

A charismatic woman with a lovely personality. And looks lovely in these pictures, too. :)

    1. Oh, I agree with the charisma, and she certainly has a lovely personality. I really like her, she´s my favourite, and it therefore hurts me to see her styled so unflatteringly.

I believe that her style is not a concious choice by her but the result of a stylist´s work. And I don´t even think that her outfits are chosen to portray a certain image (serious businesswoman, or androgynous modern heir or whatever), instead they come across to me as very fashion-conscious, following trends and trying hard to be edgy, which is unfortunate, because she herself is none of those things.

The bun is probably her own preference, since she often wears her hair like that even in private. It is likely a practical choice. I cannot argue with that, I understand the need for a functional hairdo that she can quickly do herself and that she feels comfortable with. I like a tidy look and that she as a result doesn´t fuss and fumble with her hair. But - I don´t think the tight bun suits her features at all. And it is, again, unfortunate that she goes with something that just doesn´t suit her.

And then there is a third factor in her choices and that is her commitment to promote Swedish brands, even to a degree that she´s personally invested in Swedish companies like H&M. As a result, she probably feels obliged to wear their designs, and thus her choices are not motivated by what suits and flatters her but what needs promotion.

Because of all this I don´t expect her to suddenly change her style. The only thing I can hope is for those current trends to go away (boxy double-breasted jackets, cropped and/or skinny trousers, bow blouses, all-over floral prints, shapeless prairee dresses, ankle boots...). Or for her stylist to go away. Either way would probably result in her looking better.

    2. Well said anon 3:31. Victoria is a lovely woman and has no fear to be just herself. This green color suits her very well.

@Anonymous 3:31 PM: you sound like Victoria's stylist wanting to justify failed style choices :D
Victoria's stern hairstyles look unflattering and won't adorne anyone (even models with this kind of hairstyles look unattractive), add her harsh eyebrows. And those masculine, drab pantsuits, frumpish floral dresses...yikes! Sorry, but her style is very boring and unflattering.

  9. I think dangling earrings with a business outfit don't match. And I would have preferred dark brown colour instead of grey. The best, her smile!!

  10. I don´t understand why people always says they should wear pumps. They are abosolutely boring and not beautiful in my eyes. Ankle boots are a much better choice, and here in Sweden inte the winter-spring more practical.

Anon 3:31 Thank you so much for this kind and well reflected statement. I stopped comments months ago because of the harshness here, but your comment forced me saying thanks, my thoughts exactly. And: Hurray for Ankleboots!!!

  12. There are so many little things that Victoria could do that would improve her overall appearance without making too many changes, since it is clear that she is comfortable with how she dresses. Not long ago, she had a side part that had a softening effect on her face. Since she is not going to let go of her bun, it would be nice to see it a little looser. Pulling it back so tightly is not as flattering because of her angular features.

As for her clothes, if she is going to continue to choose these pant suits, they can be feminized a little with some decent tailoring. It dosen't look like her clothes are altered to fit her, so taking in the waists for a more feminine shape on boxy jackets and shortening the lengths would be a big help. The same goes for her pants. Too often the pants have the wrong width or length for what is in style and the type of shoes she prefers, not to mention her body type. There is a way to successfully wear booties with pants, but her pants hit in the wrong place.

Her blouses can really dictate which way an outfit goes. The buttoned up, pussy bow blouses with a jacket over top are very conservative and aging. Those are probably best left for times when she is not wearing a jacket. A more simple blouse in a pop of color can still make a statement without being too stuffy.

Victoria's dresses are usually too long and have no shape, with a small floral fabric. Short of revamping her wardrobe, it would help to have her dresses shortened a little. Maybe there are a few that could benefit from a small matching belt that could define her waist. She looks great when we can see her waist, but she usually hides it.
