A mí me parece que va fenomenal y gastando poco. El abrigo y los zapatos son de hace varios años.

All pieces are individually nice but the hem situation isn’t.

In Spain we do not have very long, large coats, they are very heavy and they are not needed, hems are most of the time seen.

Very normal in Spain, our coats are shorter, 20C in Madrid today.

Strange that she wears a winter coat at 20C

Because the weather is crazy, 20C in February, so in August? Trees are blooming...

  5. Both ladies look lovely and appropriately dressed. I think Letizia's is a bit long for her and think that boots, as the model is wearing, would be better. What a gorgeous white coat she has! It fits so well and is very stylish. The Duchess of Wessex should invest in a well-fitted white coat like this classic one.

  6. Encantadora Letizia. Me gusta mucho el abrigo pálido y los complementos color granate. El vestido es sencillo y gracioso. La Sra Maribel va bien, pero demasiado oscura. Hoy hace en Madrid 20º.

If there are 20C in Madrid, then I don’t understand the need to wear a coat at all. Especially as both coats look like heavy, woolly ones.

The dress isn’t what Letizia is trying to make it work for. Too casual. Overall I feel underimpressed.

In the morning it is less temperature, it is very difficult as it is February and the trees are blooming. It is not normal at all, last year it was cold.

Letizia's coat reminds me of Sophie's coat. They are of a similar color and looser style. Love them both! Anytime a piece of clothing looks similar to a snake, I do not care for it. But the style is nice on Letizia and the shoes are great!

  8. Personally I don't love animal prints, except on some small doses or footwear, but they seem to linger and continue to be trendy, and the dress is not unattractive, I like that is feminine and fluid, and specially like the length. Good choice of shoes to elevate an otherwise plain outfit. I know that most readers don't favor the length of the coat, but I totally disagree, this combo has been fashionable over the years and it has made a comeback to have the dress peek a little bit it's not easy but she does it so very well. The final result is appropriate and chic.

Nice dress but not for this occasion. I also think the coat should have been the same length as the dress, OMO.

Preferences must be related with cultures, if not it has not sense.

We see hats as ridiculous but we do not say that the British should not wear them.

    5. Funny how you speak for a whole nation. I've seen plenty of Spanish people wearing hats so clearly not everyone finds them ridiculous.

And whilst you personally may not make generalisations about the British (who also don't in general walk around as if they're heading to a garden party at the Palace) I've seen plenty of comments on here making sweeping comments about them.

If you were picking someone up on a comment about Spanish regional costumes I might agree that taking culture into account is necessary. When you're talking about high end general fashion that really is pretty much the same across Europe I think it's ridiculous to claim that shorter coats are an integral part of Spanish culture.

Put bluntly, if someone doesn't like a hem showing beneath a coat they have every right to say so. If some thinks a hat worn by a member of the British Royal Family ridiculous they also have a right to say so - wearing hats isn't a British thing.

You have seen Spaniards wearing hats where??
Maybe you thought they were Spaniards because they were there.
I do not know even when I could buy one...I once wore it and even my husband was ashamed.
We do not wear long coats because it is not necesary, they are heavy and it is not so cold in the afternoon....We wear
And I speak for a whole nation because I am from the North, living in the Centre and in Spai we usually visit our whole country and we know it.
Probably you do not know about Spain, I do.

In Spain you can barely see long coats, in the South you can barely see a coat...not nedeed..and annoying...
I only have "chaquetones" until the hips...that's the normal..

    8. So the Infanta Elena, Paloma Cuevas, Carmen Martínez-Bordiu and Nuria March aren't Spanish? Or Laura Vecino? To mention a few of the people I've thought were Spaniards wearing hats...

I know a bit about Spain - I lived there.

I still maintain that the length of a coat is not anything to do with culture. Plenty of British don't wear long coats either. Neither is the wearing of hats a specifically British thing.

  10. I think that this dress is too casual and therefore cannot be styled like an elegant formal dress. It looks better on the model, and the boots are a better match. The shoes Letizia chose are too delicate to balance that vast amount of snakeskin print fabric. Also, they look more like evening shoes to me.
I really really like her coat though. Seemingly very nice material, good length and interesting colour contrast in the lapels. I just wish she had chosen a different dress to go with it.
I like Ms. Cabello´s little saucy scarf. It´s an accessory only, but it really makes her outfit, I think.

20C degrees in Madrid, Peruvian Fisrt Lady must have been very hot in black and wearing a scarf.

Ms. Cabello?? She is called Maribel Diaz Cabello, the last is her second surnane, in the Spanish worl people have two surnames, father's and mother's. Also we keep our maiden surnames.
      So Ms. Díaz.

  12. The President and First Lady are holding hands! Very sweet.

I am surprised by the adverse reaction to Letizia's dress. I realize they are receiving a president and first lady, but it is daytime and I think her dress is very appropriate. I do love the choice of shoes and bag as well. They are a nice contrast to the color of the dress. I would argue the black lace dress the first lady is wearing is a bit much for daytime. I also think it could have been a little longer. It would probably have looked better on her. I do love her scarf. As for the coats, the people in the background are wearing coats as well. They must have been necessary at that moment.

  13. À very elegant look for the Queen - not a lover of animal print especially snakeskin but this works fine. It flows and drapes nicely. The coat is nice and personally, I don't mind the peep of dress hem below. Love the shoes.
