The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended Sunday service at St Mary Magdalene Church

Queen Elizabeth II and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the Sunday church service at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham, Norfolk today. After the church service, the Duke and Duchess met locals and well-wishers. The Duchess of Cambridge wore a bespoke blue funnel neck coat by Catherine Walker. She first wore it during her royal tour of Norway in February.

The Queen looks great . I like the color of her coat and lipstick . Kate is elegant and appropriate as usual.

    1. Yes we see little of the queen's coat but it looks good, better than some others worn on official occasions.

Catherine looks lovely, and I must say I do like her new style of wearing these head/hair bands. They are a refreshing change from the usual hats and fascinators; they are also elegant if styled and worn correctly, and she looks great in them - from the side at least.

  4. Great to see the Cambridges before they return to London. This is a beautiful blue coat--previously worn when Catherine was pregnant, I think. I confess that I am getting a little bored with the headband style hats and I don't think this is necessarily the best example of one anyway. Love the bag and shoes. I like the idea of the Queen's outfit but don't think that the biscuity colour is the most flattering for her; the vibrant pinks, reds blues and greens suit her so well.

  5. How do people understand what dress is worn under the coat? This always baffled me!!!

    1. Most of the time I am also completely in awe about how people manage to find out. This time I saw on other sites (where more pictures where published) that a little bit of her dressed peeked trough her coat as she walked. And it also happened to be a dress that she recently wore.

    2. Mimi, I'm guessing that there was another photo, which was not posted, where the coat opened enough at the bottom for the dress to be seen.

    3. At the first pic on dailymail, for example, you can see a glimpse from the dress. And from other occasions before we know, she owns that dress and it looks like the same.

      I'm ok with the headpiece

  6. Catherine's headband hats are charming and I like the bow by the ear detail. I like this coat, although photos of her wearing it while pregnant and looking wonderful in Norway highlight how very thin she has become again and how aging that is to her face.

Really? The length of the hair is problem now? A woman can't choose whether she wants to wear it long or short because she is a public representative? I have never heard of a more repressive comment!

  8. It caught me off guard to see the Queen in camel as I am so accustomed to seeing her in vibrant colors. From what I can see, I really like it. She looks very regal for her Sunday church outing.

I am still not sure about Kate's headband/hat. As always, she is impeccably put together.

    1. chardonn8r HMQ wore this coat for the first time in 2005 and many more times after. I love it the best with the shawl that was made with it. It's very elegant the way she wraps it across either under or over the neckline. Lovely elegant ensemble.

  9. Love the colour of this outfit - very nice. I don't mind the headbands - it keeps her hair away from her face which means she doesn't have to keep brushing it away.

The Queen looks good - a brown shade is quite unusual for her.

Alles sehen bezaubernd aus. Nur finde ich, dass es Catherine besser steht, wenn sie ihr Pony/Haare nicht so wie oben auf den Fotos zu sehen, nach hinten frisiert.

Catherine is naturally classy and elegant. She will be a great Queen (consort) some day.

The headband was a tad strange, and her hair appeared longer, than it does normally, sort of an oddity. Otherwise the ladies looked lovely.

  13. This rich camel colour is a departure for the Queen from her usual bright, vibrant colours. And I love it! Very flattering to her! Kate looks elegant and like the future Queen she will be one day (but a long time from now, I hope).

    1. Beverly24 and all...Her Majesty wore this coat for the first time at Christmas in 2005. Many more times after that with different brooches and hats. The coat is made of fine cashmere wool and is part of an elegant ensemble: coat, scarf made from the same fabric( she wears it beautifully arranged within the neckline or over) and a lighter dress. I think HMQ skin tones allows her to wear all colors and hues there are. Wonderful.

I don't think that shade of blue complements her at all, it is harsh against her natural skin colour. I don't think her skin is ageing very well, she needs to drink lots of water and have moisturizing facials, Her skin appears naturally dry.

I was perplexed by William's interest in Kate, and not impressed by the newlywed Catherine, but after 3 children, near-daily international scrutiny and how very many private and public exposures, a difficult family situation (in terms of media and protocol)... I am quite forgiving at this point if she wears uninteresting headpieces and monotonous coatdresses.

The Queen looks lovely in the camel coloured coat;she knows how to keep up with the trends.Kate;that blue does not suit her;she looks washed out and too skinny. Who ever said head bands are flattering;perhaps for young girls;they do not pass as a hat.A small pill box hat would suit her better.William looks dapper.

  16. I have noticed a number of comments about Kate "aging" and about the state of her skin, some attributing the "dryness" or wrinkling of her face to the loss of weight after her pregnancy. The most common explanation for the state of her skin I have seen--one that makes sense to me--is that she refrained from skin treatments while pregnant and nursing. In the past two or three appearances you can note how her face has been returning to her usual look, from which people have concluded that she must have weaned Louis and is back to her facialist. This makes sense to me as skin treatments include procedures, products, etc that are not necessarily safe for a baby being breast fed. I normally try not to comment on her "look," others than the clothes, but I guess I'm sensitive to comments about other women looking "old" when they've just gone through a pregnancy that upsets one's entire hormonal balance. Coming back from that can be very hard on the skin and not always solvable with treatments. I couldn't hydrate my skin for months even though I was using tons of moisturizer. She's only 36 so her skin will recover.

Kate's sense of style is about to wear the same thing in every shade of colour. Not really exciting. This blue doesn't get with her skin and I really dislike this horrible headpiece on her.

    1. Catherine knows what becomes her and sticks to that kind of clothes - always elegant, always classy. She understands her role as a future queen and represants stability. That is what the british people in these troubled time expect- a royal who puts duty first. I think that is why the people like her so much.

A very low key color coat woren by the Queen, but she looks good. I like Kates coat but not so much the headband and hairstyle today.

  21. If you look in the pictures you can see that she is wearing a polka dot dress under her blue coat. Look at the back of the coat at the kick pleat on the coat and you will see the polka dots from the dress she is wearing. Just match the color and print to what she has worn before most likely is how they determine what dress it is.
