Imperial Family attended memorial event for 30th anniversary of death of Emperor Showa

On January 7, 2019, Emperor Akihito, Empress Michiko, Prince Akishino, Princess Kiko, Princess Hisako, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and members of government attended memorial ceremony held at Musashi Imperial Graveyard in Hachioji for 30th anniversary of death of Emperor Showa. Crown Prince Naruhito and Crown Princess Masako of Japan worshipped at the Imperial Palace sanctuaries on behalf of Emperor Akihito. Emperor Showa, the father of Emperor Akihito, passed away on January seventh, 1989, and Crown Prince Akihito acceded to the throne.
