Japan's Emperor and Empress held a lunch for Imperial family members

On December 27, 2018, members of the Imperial family visited Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko for end-of-year greetings and a family lunch. Imperial family members including, Crown Prince Naruhito, Crown Princess Masako, Prince Akishino, Princess Kiko, Princess Mako of Akishino and Princess Kako of Akishino attended the lunch. A resource who is close to the Imperial family stated that former royals and relatives are invited to the luncheon as well.

  4. I agree that Masako looks well and happy. What did cause me to twinge was the comment that "former royals and relatives are invited to the luncheon as well". I do wish they would rethink some of their traditions moving forward. The Imperial family is getting smaller with each generation.

  5. I agree that Masako looks so much more relaxed now. She had to miss out on so much over the years due to what they called an adjustment problem but my personal opinion is that because she did not produce a male heir her life was made to be miserable. I love that she will be Empress now, she deserves to be happy
