Lunch for Ukraine's President and his wife at Zarzuela Palace

On June 4, King Felipe of Spain and Queen Letizia of Spain held a lunch at Zarzuela Palace in Madrid for Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko and his wife Maryna Poroshenko. Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko and his wife Maryna are in Spain for a working visit. (Queen Letizia wore a new floral-print skirt by Adolfo Domínguez)

  1. Beautiful skirt. I love this 1950's silhouette - although it is a little bit too unformal perhaps. But after being the court with the strictest protocoll for centuries it is maybe time to loosen the rules a bit in Spain.

Alfonso XIII was exiled, since then nobody knows the protocol in Spain and a few ones like it either..

At today's visit, Letizias outfit is a bit to plain. The skirt and shoes are fine the top way to plain also the belt,a white or light blue silk top and a thin belt would have made more of a Statement. The dress of the Ukraine First Lady is just right for the occasion,a black dress is always in style.

  4. Love the earrings! Letizia has lots of beautiful earrings... But she doesn't like or wear rings on her fingers... Dommage!

  5. Nice dress of the Ukrainiane First Lady, but she was probably too cautious with her choice of black. I would prefer to see her in something lighter as more appropriate for the season and for this engagement. With a figure like hers, she should have plenty to choose from.

Beautiful skirt on Queen Letizia. She looks great in straight or fuller skirts. I do not usually care for this style, but would wear this one for sure! The blue color of the top is a nice color on her. Letizia is a confident queen who represents Spain well!

  8. Lovely skirt!! (And both ladies here are certainly lovely too.) The white version of the skirt has a more feminine and formal look than the more casual beige one on the model. The top, which looks a bit like a T-shirt, is less successful, imho. A white blouse with full, pretty sleeves might have worked better.

  9. Both ladies are very attractive!

  10. Maryna looks good in classic black. Letizia is a bit informal but I like the skirt. Her hair is kind of messy, maybe is too windy?

Windy, humidity and a bit cool, ladies must have been chilly.... and it's going to rain more and chilly

Anonymous @ 11:33, I totally agree with you, I would suggest if I may that you don't engage the trolls, it seems that they are invading this blog as well, demeaning comments like the one from Southernbell, should be ignored, or simply deleted by the moderator otherwise you are just feeding them.

  12. They both look good with their different styles. I like Queen Letizia's skirt very much and I think the way she wears the belt and a high heeled shoe helps make a bit more formal.

  13. Nice skirt. It would have worked better with a shirt. The T shirt is too casual for the ocassion.

I agree with your assessment. A crisp white cotton shirt like the signature style of CH herself would work better. Replace the belt with the thin blue one that she owns. A string of colourful beads and the outfit is transformed! BTW that is not a T-Shirt. It looks like a fine gauge summer weight sweater but she tucks the ribbed end into the skirt, similar to the blue one worn in Asturias with pants. Mrs. Ukraine is lovely. A little black dress always saves the day.

Yo no creo q el jersey q lleva sea muy casual, pero no es bonito, una camisa blanca hubiese estado genial.

Queen Letizia is beautiful. Maybe sometimes she choose clothes that are not flattering, but who did never do this mistake? Is not a reason to be upset with those who critize her. The critic is about the clothes, no about the person

    1. Nobody gets upset because some people may or may not like the clothes that The Queen is wearing. Some of the comments above are not about fashion, they are simply demeaning and condescending remarks, do you find it appropriate to say that she looks like a village woman on her first visit to the city, or that she looks like a gaudy wedding attendee, or a country girl on her Sunday best? These words are clearly written as personal attack. I find this type of trolling rude and unbecoming, and I don't care if it's directed to this particular woman or any other, whether they are Royals or not they deserve the same respect that the authors of the comments. Furthermore the level of nastiness is lost in translation it's even worse in Spanish.
      Best Regards
