  1. Never seen a more ill-fitting evening gown than that worn by Mrs. Governor General Payette. Sorry to say...

Mathilde looks beautiful . I love her gown. Mrs Payet dress does not fit her at all. Maybe in other pics she looks good i don't know but in this pic the dress is awful on her.

  3. Fabulous dress on Mathilde. I also like the necklace a lot, although it looks better from the distance than close-up.
Mrs. Payette´s outfit is extremely unflattering, especially at the top (neckline and shoulders straps). I wonder tough if it´s a jumpsuit and not a dress.

  5. I do not like the dress of Mathilde, horrible colour and the neck ornament or whatever it is does not match with the dress at all. The top part of the dress looks outdated to me.

    1. Upon further inspection I now think that the ornament is an integral part of the dress, attached to the bodice by some kind of (very delicate) netting. I first thought it was a necklace, but I don´t think so anymore, because the "tassels" wouldn´t be spread this evenly and remain in their position if it was a lose piece. I actually quite like the design, but I think the ornament part would have looked even better in a lighter shade like pale pink or silver or bronze, in order to not look to tentacle-like from up close.

    2. Looking mire closely, I would agree, Vanessa. In agreement with those who think this dress is fantastic on Mathilde. She is so elegant and serene. Just lovely.

    3. I thought it was part of the dress too, but went online and found photos of her wearing the dress with diamonds and not the feathery creation in the above photos. She's always beautiful so I don't care one way or another.

  6. Julie Payette is an engineer who has flown on two Space Shuttle missions to the international space station so I'll forgive her shortcomings in evening wear.

  7. Yes to the dress but NO to the neck ornament! Yet, Mathilde is a very beautiful woman so...

    1. Have had a closer look and its embroidery not a necklace. It's well done - you can barely see the material it's stitched on.

    2. They must have made changes because I found earlier photos with only diamonds and not the ornamental addition.

  9. Mathilde looks awesome! That dress is like a sculpture. Love the way it looks at standing pictures. Tiara gets a bit lost with this dress.

    1. This Tiara has a low profile and is really very nice for an event where the hosts and other guests are not in tiaras. I think it shows sensitivity to the occasion.

    2. Hero; Mathilde does not have any big tiaras, the biggest is Nine Provinces Tiara (the ugliest tiara I know), then comes this one and smallest is Wolfer´s Neclace Tiara. This not knowing where Fabiola´s big and beautiful Spanish Wedding Gift Tiara ended. I still hope that in some way they managed to keep it despite supposed 90 % inheritance tax.

    3. Thank you for the info, Blondini. I had no idea about this. You would think they would have a protected royal collection but apparently not.

  10. The ornamentation I believe is sewn onto a sheet netting. Not just placed around around her neck.

  11. Mrs.Payette should hire urgently an image advisor to help her to look according to the roles and responsibilities that she is having right now representing the crown, acting on advice of the Prime Minister, among others.
I support her for all her achievements on her career as an astronaut but her duties are not the same anymore.

  12. I think the Queen looks absolutely lovely. We are delighted to have them in Canada!

  13. Personally I think the neckline of Mathilde's gown ruins the gown. Without the fussy neckline the gown would have been very, very elegant and any number of beautiful necklaces could have been worn with the gown.

  14. I applaud the professional accomplishments of Julie Payette. However, I agree with Gabby that she needs image advice immediately for her new role. Fashion isn't as easy as those who haven't paid attention to it might think. It does require sourcing, planning and realistic assessment.
