  2. They look very good. Love the way Mary can change her look, this is completely new Mary. She has managed very well with jewels and puting that big ruby corsage with Collar of the Order of the Elephant. Collar and other jewels can be tricky. Also Marie looks good. Queen´s modified gown has a bit unusual new maron color accents.

  3. Happy New Year everyone!
Sorry to say I don't like very much Marie's dress nor Mary's. Both look polished, appropriate and lovely, of course, just the dresses aren't my style.

  4. My first thought when I saw Mary was that she looks "matronly". It's the cape, the Victorian era hair style, and too much jewellery (who would have thought that would be a bad thing but the pieces shouldn't look like they are piled on). And the material seems a bit blah.
Marie looks much more elegant. I like the colour.
The queen, as usual, is a bit over-the-top with the huge gown, but that's her formal style.

  5. Is this the dress cp Mary wore at the last Portrait?

    2. Queen Margrethe looked pretty much as she always does. Personally I would love the Queen to change her hairstyle to something a tad more modern, like her sisters, however I doubt that will ever happen.

Mary whole look was "wow", pure majesty! Love the gown, the colour is stunning and it suits Mary beautifully! The jewellery Mary has chosen to wear and the placement of the jewellery is perfect. The earrings from the Ruby Parure in their fully glory and the stomacher at the collar of her gown, beautifully accent the gown without being too much, particularly when worn with the collar of the Order of the Elephant. And finally the cloak, it beautifully accentuates the colour of the rubies in the parure - pure perfection!

As for Marie, total fail! The fabric of the dress looks tacky and clashes badly with the collar of the Order of the Elephant. I also don't think the style of the dress, and it is a dress, it is not a gown, is appropriate for such a grand occasion. I believe Marie tries; perhaps the problem is that she tries too hard.

    1. Why are you surprised? In my eyes Marie has alwys been prettier than Mary. Her facial features are classic and beautiful, she has a natural slim and elegant figure. Her fashion choices are often not the best. To work with a good stylist would help. Mary has found her style, that suits her, she is most of the times perfectly dressed, evening gown or jeans. But she has another role than Marie, she sure works with stylists and has a much bigger budget.

  7. Marie's black shiny and slinky etui dress doesn't fit neither the Elephant order or for the finest New Year's event in the Royal House of Denmark! She needs a stylist more than ever!
The Queen looks amazing as usual.

  8. I don't care for Marie's dress it's too clingy. Mary looks nice, I like the cape but too much jewelry. The queen and her huge furs, not so good.

  9. I wish you happy new year! None of the three dresses impressed me, but Marie really looks good, she is again prettier as Mary.

  10. This hairstyle on Mary ages her, side part is much softer. Love her outfit and jewels. Marie looks gorgeous.

  11. Mary's dress looks lovely, so much better, in the portrait. The more flattering hairdo and jewellery also helps. And no ugly grandmotherly cape.

The Queen's fur piece looks like a wolf pelt or a rug:( It seems very inelegant. She's worn it before and I never felt it looked suitable. Better to leave that one on the sofa.

  13. Think Mary looks quite majestic in her ensemble ! How did she manage to sit down with the netting under the dress !
I like Marie, but unfortunately, this is miss ! Of all the materials styles and designs, available to her, am at a loss, as to why she went for a metallic looking sheath !

Love it. Happy New Year!
