  1. You can't dress any more plainly than that. Acceptable, I guess, but I think she could have tried a bit harder.

    1. This is about giving to people who have little or nothing--not a fashion show or fancy dress occasion. IF you ever helped in a shelter or soup kitchen, you would know how rude it would be to flaunt your status.

    2. I agree with you. I think that the outfit is pretty correct for the occation, and that both MM and the crown prince look nice.

    3. This outfit is absolutely ok for the occasion. Indeed, she looks much much better in a simple sweater and pants than in most of her horrible "little house on the prairie" dresses.
And of course I like what they are doing here.

    4. This is for "Unknown". Your comment is unkind - I actually DO volunteer work like this and we consider that dressing nicely shows respect to our clients and is certainly not a "fashion show", "fancy dress" or "flaunt[ing] status. The people who are being helped need to know that they are respected and not that we think they aren't worth making an effort for.
What could she have worn? More colour maybe, or a small piece of jewellery - certainly something more cheerful. She looks a lot nicer at the visit to the school in a later post although the clothes are similar.

  2. The food they dish out tastes the same whether they wear plain or fancy, this was not a fancy occasion.

    1. Of course, but I assume the staff, if not the clients, knew who they are so It seems courteous to look better than this.

  3. The dress is simple and compare to what she dared to wore in previous occasions is a good choice; I think she could have add a broche or a silk scarf or a big bold necklace... Maxima dicey!

  4. I think we al have to accept that MM is in a bland mood fashion wise and just learn to deal with misses and the occassional hit!

  5. I don't think we should comment how Princess Mette and her husband look here but rather what both of them being royalties do for the people who are in need , who are not in such a good situation.
That says so much about them.

    1. I guess I'm missing something here - I thought that the point of this blog is to comment on what is being worn. The word "fashion"does appear in the title.
That said, I volunteer in a similar capacity and I think it's important that we show the people we deal with that we care enough to make an effort to make the whole experience as nice as possible for them. And that means not dressing as if we are going to the playground with our kids.

    2. If I agreed with you, we would be both wrong.

  6. I can't think what MM could have worn, that would have been more appearance appropriate !They both look like they're getting 'stuck in' and being hands on, sleeves rolled up etc.
