Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg hosted Nadia Murad Basee and Lamiya Aji Bashar who are Iraqi Yazidi human rights women activists at the Grand Ducal Palace of Luxembourg. Sakharov Freedom of Thought Award is a human rights award presented every December by European Parliament. |
A very touching photograph.
ReplyDeleteWhat these two women have survived is unbelievable. May they - and all the other women who suffer from the terror of the so called Isis - from now on have much better days!
ReplyDeleteWell said @ Coralie, the faces of these two women show, that they have seen hell. What a tremendously strong picture, it brought tears to my eyes! Maria-Teresa shows that she really cares. My wish for 2017 is, that all wars come to an end, peace, justice and freedom for all women, all children and everbody on this planet.
DeleteBeth, although we know, that your wish will always be a beautiful utopia we will never stop believing in it! Let us never stop holding on to the dream of a peaceful world! At least theoratically there is enough space, food and energy for all of us!
DeleteAmen!
DeleteA sa façon de tenir les mains de ces pauvres jeunes femmes, on sent combien Maria-Teresa est maternelle et humaine...
ReplyDeleteAbsolument. Elle est admirable.
DeleteNow THIS is what being royal is all about in 2016. These are the causes that need a leader. Yes they are perhaps controversial to some degree. But I say NYET! Human Rights are paramount to the well being of OUR SHARED WORLD. Brava MT!
ReplyDeletePerhaps Stephanie should rethink her causes ~ THIS over another art gallery visit is so much more impressive (and yes I love the arts (I paint) so I am not saying they are meaningless). She could learn much from her Mother In Law. Perhaps she was there too?
She certainly wasn't there ,otherwise there would have been a photo with her. Little countessy-princessy doesn't want to be disturbed in her cosy little ivory tower and carefully avoids any contact with the rougher side of life especially with suffering human beings. She prefers to make three appearances at one single exhibition.
DeleteWonderful that she uses her position to advance humanitarian causes!
