  2. Are we sure this isn't a photo of Estelle from when she was born, b/c they look identical! ;-) So adorable! Wish them well!

  4. So impressed by the way that the Swedish royal family introduce their children to their royal life ... Estelle is regularly seen at photoshoots and at church and public occasions. So unlike the British Royal family who seem so grudingly to release a rare photo of their children. Not the best way to introduce them to what lies ahead ....

    1. "Continental" European royalty are much closer and open to their "subjects". After all, they could be dethroned - i.e.Greece!!!!! Nobody would dare do that to the Brits royalty - just saying jokingly

    2. Why is Britain above everything and everyone. In media, they are like celebrities, while some people don't know other royal families exist. How did that happen?
For that reason I don't like them at all.

    3. Now now Lassie. This is not their fault. How can they be blamed for how the media has elevated them?

I do have to say however that the BRF is old. Been around a long time. They have been a super power as compared to the other families. This presence in so much makes them more exposed. This is not their fault. The fact that the media doesn't follow the other families is not the BRF fault. To say that it is is silly.

Frankly you cannot compare the other families to the BRF. You just can't. Small countries. Didn't have many countries under them during colonism. Usually neutral in wars. They are just not as exposed as Britain.

Blame the media not the BRF. They are not digging the media coverage or have you not noticed?

    4. I used to have a British email friend years ago. She loved, loved, loved her royalty and everything else about it. My Scottish friend, on the other hand, couldn't care less. To each her own. Me I detest the pomp and the thousands upon thousands of - whatever the currency of the country - it costs. I was looking at the photos of the German president's visit to Belgium. All that tra-la-la for a man whose country invaded Belgium twice, and that is nothing compared to the British display of pomp.

    5. You do have a point Lizzie.

I just enjoy the photos. I have a degree in history. Love European history and so it's fun to watch and read. I am actually related to William Wallace ~ Scotland.. so I have mixed emotions. Our history and ancestry is so mixed. For me the fun is just seeing the continuity.

They are not perfect. They have the same woes we do. Most forget this.

It's like watching a good movie.

    6. And then it begs the question. Lizzie if you despise the pomp and money spent? Then why are you even reading this blog?

      Why support any of it?

    7. Yes I can blame the media. You can't write only about one family. They do not have colonies like they used to, so what makes them interesting now? Look at Madeleine's Childhood project, or any other, some work so much more than BRF. And please don't reply with novels, there's no need for so many words.
Btw, it is ridiculous that Charles is still a prince. Look at Beatrix, Sofia and Juan Carlos... Why can't Elisabet do the same? Now the fans will write, cause she is a good queen. The younger people need their chance while they're still young. Isn't that true?

    8. Queen Elizabeth is institution like Queen Victoria was. Every king/queen makes his/her own mark. Queen Victoria said her son Edward VII was no good. Actually he was so good that Britain continued as monarchy when many countries failed. I have a doubt that Queen Elizabeth thinks a bit like that about Charles.

My mother has been born the very same day as Queen Elizabeth. Looking my mon, I would say there is definitely need for rejuvenation in UK, but we who live abroad do not see the same picture British see.

Today´s life worships youth and beauty, but it is not of course the real truth. Age and experience can give so much. But maybe Queen Elizabeth cannot think time she would not be queen herself. Or she has over whelming affect of responsibility. Sometimes I imagine how Queen and her husband could have enjoyed being retired.

    9. Don't write a novel? I will write as much as I want Lassie.

I said BLAME THE MEDIA. Not the BRF. Perhaps too many words make it difficult foryou to understand? Language problem?

Your original post said you don't like the British family I said balmy the media not the family. Now you say 'I can blame the media" that is what I said dear.

As to abdication? I am not in the know as to why Elizabeth will not step down. I do know that she took the oath very seriously and said she would serve ALL her life. No British monarch has ever steppe down.

Juan Carlos is not a good example. Spain was and is in the midst of many issues. The Infanta's scandal... his hunting trip with the mistress which was $$$$ when many Spaniards are without jobserved etc etc. He needed to step down. Beatrix? I don't know enough about the history of the family.

Sorry for the novel. I just like to state the facts instead of tossing out half truths or half replies.

      Read or don't read.

    10. I perfecty understand you Diana. It is obvious you are a big fan of BRF so I understand you can't be objective.
My point is, it is not ok that BRF is so famous comparing to other royals. And Elisabeth should have faith in her son.
We can all learn from others. That refers to her too.
      That is all.

    11. I am not a BIG FAN. I follow them. I don't like all they do and I have some personal opinions. I just choose NOT to publicly slur them or any family as I don't know them so who am I to say?

I am always objective Lassie. Perhaps you should take a lesson in objectivity. No need to be snarky.

I thought you were above these kind of remarks.

    12. No, we don't know them, but we can comment.
Yes I might question my objectivity, but you could just stayed at the topic. We are not discussing ourselves, wright? I am sorry if this sounds insulting.

    1. I wonder what inspired to choose the names. Was someone in the family called Oscar? It a beautiful name.
I would also like to know why Estelle has four names and Oscar three.

      Delete
    2. There were two Kings in Sweden named Oscar. Also several princes. It is a very much used name in the House of Bernadotte. A traditional royal name.

Read several articles that stated hat it seems the younger set of royals for many of the families are not inclined to use as many names with the new babies. They stated there was no reason one has 3 and another 4 or 5 ...other than that they just chose those names PERIOD.
Queen Elizabeth as 3. Margaret had 2. All their cousins had 4. The Yorks have 4. Spain has a new law about how many names a person can have... there are no rules.

      Delete
    3. I understand thank you. But still doesn't make sesnse why they gave Estelle four names. Maybe they were inspired to do so? There's obviously no other explanation.
I am also curious about Leonore and Nicolas. How did they got their names?
I hope Sofia and C. Phillip also choose a family name for their child.

      Delete
    4. Leonore apparently was just liked by the parents. It has been used by 4 other Swedish Queens but written as Eleonora. Which is pretty I think.

Nicholas seems to just be a liking by the parents. The Swedish version is spelled Niklas. I have only found one Niklas in the family and that was by marriage and not a descendant. His middle names are in honor of his grandfathers.

It will be interesting to see what name Sofia and Phillip choose.
