Prince Carl Philip attends Volvo Ocean Race start in Alicante

Prince Carl Philip of Sweden is attending the Volvo Ocean Race start in Alicante, Spain from Friday October 3rd to Sunday October 5th.

During his visit to Alicante, Prince Carl Philip, who is a patron of the Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15, joined Team SCA for the in-port race and attended the In-Port Race prize giving ceremony.
Tomorrow Prince Carl Philip will also take part in the Volvo Ocean Race Pro-Am race with the Chinese entry, on Sunday.
Team SCA are competing under a Swedish flag in the 12th edition of the Volvo Ocean Race with an all-female crew. Prince Carl Philip joined the crew onboard the boat for the In-Port Race in Alicante.
Martin Strömberg is the only Swedish sailor competing in the Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15 and he is sailing on the Chinese boat Dongfeng Race Team
Prince Carl Philip will be joining Dongfeng Race Team for the Pro-Am Race on October 5th (tomorrow) and actively take part in the racing.
The Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15’s first leg starts in one week on October 11th when the boats will leave on the first leg of the race taking them to Cape Town
It will visit nine other ports before concluding in Gothenburg on June 27th, 2015.
