With two fox tails leading the field and 32 obstacles along the course, this year’s Hubertus Hunt took place in Dyrehaven. On November 1, 2026, Queen Mary attended the annual event, watching the Hubertus Hunt (Hubertusjagten) from the balconies of the Hermitage Hunting Lodge (Eremitageslottet) in Klampenborg, as well as from along the route.
The tradition dates back to 1900 and, with only a few exceptions, has been maintained ever since. The Hubertus Hunt continues the tradition of the old parforce hunts, for which Dyrehaven was originally established. In the past, dogs were sent out to track down foxes along the park’s star-shaped network of paths, while the riders followed behind. Today, real foxes have been replaced by fox tails carried by two experienced riders who lead the field.
This year’s victory went to Katia Bøgedal riding Bøgedals Fresh Mint. Following the hunt, she received the “H.M. Queen Mary’s Honorary Prize” from Queen Mary in front of the Hermitage Hunting Lodge. Among the ponies, the winner was Clara Strøm riding Lonsdals Anna.

Tradition d'un vieux monde ! A abolir ;-)
ReplyDeleteErm ... sure you know that no animal gets chased and is hunted (like in "shot dead") here. This basically is a rider's competition, and nothing else. Not a real hunt (parforce is forbidden anyway).
DeleteIt's not a real fox hunt, the riders are chasing after 2 other riders who symbolize the foxes :)
DeleteUnlike the inhumane hunting parties of British royals, the Danish aren’t actually killing any life form in these events. Difficult to know how to tell these apart, but the hypocrisy of the Brits is astounding and we often assume all royals are the să. In fact they aren’t
DeleteReading is fundemental - but, alas, not everyone comprehends what they've read. The caption clearly states, "Today, ***real foxes have been replaced*** by fox tails carried by two experienced riders ...." Wow! :-(
DeleteQuelle magnifique allure mais à mon humble avis, j’auais préféré la jupe sans les carreaux pour être en harmonie avec le reste de sa tenue !
ReplyDeleteGreat autumn outfit. I wonder if the frill at the bottom is part of the jacket or a separate blouse. Whichever it looks nice and softens the rather military looking jacket.
ReplyDeleteQM has worn this jacket often and I think I have seen this so called frill on the bottom before ❤️
DeleteBlack is beutiful colour.
ReplyDeleteYou write this comment very often and it’ s strange because there is no black clothing as long as I can see 😳
Delete14:10 yes this commenter is a troll and constantly repeating stupid inane comments. Best ignored.
DeletePictures of QM looks like they are taken directly from fashion magasin❤️
ReplyDeleteWell you know they are from the same photo pool that end up in the fashion magazines, so yes…
DeleteWell combined outfit on Queen Mary. I think the Danish court has one of the best photographers (or group of photographers). I like the pictures 3 & 4.
ReplyDeleteI love this autumnal Mary outfit. Excellent boots, hope to see them many times more.
ReplyDeleteMary looks great; that is such a cute jacket!!
ReplyDeleteA Queen for all seasons and all occasions.
ReplyDeleteBr
The only thing I like on Queen Mary's outfit is the hat.
ReplyDeleteThe rest of the clothes are not very well chosen.
The jacket is of a too light quality when compared with the boots, which are real winterboots to wear when there is snow. I do not like that the frills of the blouse underneath the jacket are visible.
Mary is a composition artist and her countryside/sporty outfits are always outstanding. - Somebody mentioned the photographer, very good observation, we should always consider that perspective can enhance or deform.
ReplyDeleteQueen Mary looks like a Ralph Lauren Vogue spread! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteQuite the country gentry look. Colours are good on her
ReplyDeleteeven on these occasions, she manages to present a different type of outfit each year - a vest, a midi skirt, cape, gloves - there is always something to look for.
ReplyDeleteThe horses are the real stars here!
