On November 3, 2026, King Haakon VIII and Queen Sonja of Norway hosted a dinner for the county governors at the Royal Palace in Oslo. The county governors are the state's highest representatives in their respective counties. The dinner for the county governors is one of the Royal Palace’s established traditions, marking the close cooperation between the Royal Family and the state’s leading representatives in the counties.

For the occasion, Queen Sonja wore her Modern Gold Tiara and Choker, together with the sash and star of the Order of St. Olav. In 1997, King Harald gifted the gold tiara and parure to Queen Sonja to mark her 60th birthday. The parure also includes a gold choker necklace with a versatile central element, as well as necklaces featuring topaz and tourmaline.

  1. I do love the gown worn by the lady in the 1st photo, elegant, beautiful gown.
Queen Sonia looks beautiful. Her chosen pieces of jewelery look great with this ensemble. Her hair accommodates the tiara well. She is wearing a splendid brooch, perfectly placed. The necklace is striking. Lovely to see the addition of a bracelet. So wonderful to see her.

J’adore ce diadème de Sonja. Vivement que Haakon ne soit plus seul. Heureusement qu’il peut compter sur sa mère. Josée.

  3. Wonderful setting. The dusky pink (if this is the right word) and the red dress of the guests are both elegant and beautiful!

The queen is wearing a rather simple but very nice and well-fitted dress. It's interesting that she chose to wear white dress twice in a row (the first time during the dinner with the parliament members). The brooch is stunning, but I don't particularly like the parure (tiara, necklace and earrings). They are too modern, imo.

Dear 8:50, Queen Sonia wore white twice……..I think this choice is intentional. White is a colour of mourning or semi-mourning. The official mourning period of the court, however, is over, so this would be a private gesture.

Sonja's complexion looks healthy and glowing against the softness of the cream and gold, plus the red accent of her order ribbons. This is a lovely colour palette for her. Lyra

  6. Sonja porte un superbe diadème bien choisi pour aller avec sa coiffure ; est-ce qu’il est de l’écrin royal ?

No, it's not a part of the royal collection, it's her personal tiara, which King Harald gifted her for her 60th birthday.

I like Queen Sonja's cream dress, but I do not like the tiara and necklace she is wearing. Her hair is lovely. The jewelry reminds me the series of Wonder woman onTV and other movies in the same style.
The dresses of the ladies who are invited are beautiful too (photos N°1, 2 and 6).

Love the simple but refined style Q. Sonja chose to wear, it is complimented by the tiara, a timeless classic as Scandinavian design so often is.

I like how the smart watch of Haakon peaks out from the classic suit :)

The combination of white and gold looks fabulous on Queen Sonja. I like her modern gold tiara, but would have ditched the necklace. I can’t put my finger on it, but there’s something «wrong» when the repeating pattern of the tiara and necklace are worn so close to each other.

Maybe she does not want to wear vivid colours as for now. I personally don't think that she wants a second or semi-mourning colour, what for. What I absolutely love is her necklace - and also that she can feel useful and helpful within the royal agenda of her son - so much better to be active.

Queen Sonja looks marvelous! I love this gown on her. While I personally am not a fan of this very modern parure I think it is lovely when paired with this gown. I am sure Sonja loves this parure because it was a gift from her beloved husband. I am also so glad to see her constantly supporting her son. He really needs her help and support due to Queen Mette-Marit's need for extended recovery and CP Ingrid Alexandra's needs in terms of her education.
