On Thursday, 15 October 2026, the Princess of Wales visited Cornwall to learn more about the potential of nature-based learning during the earliest years of childhood. On Friday, 16 October, Kensington Palace released three new portraits of the Princess to mark the occasion. Her new project will work in partnership with the Duchy of Cornwall, of which Prince William is Duke, as a founding partner.

The study, commissioned by The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood with the Duchy of Cornwall as a founding partner, will bring together evidence, expertise and practical experience from across the UK and around the world to explore how nature-rich environments and nurturing relationships can help babies and young children develop essential social and emotional skills.

  1. Very nice pictures of Catherine. Perhaps they had family pictures taken at the same time for this year’s Christmas card since they often favor nature settings for those.

  2. Great message for kids and adults (I always feel better after an outdoor walk) and outdoor look. Love the peek of ruffle at the collar and sweater. Seems like lower half is a wool skirt. Great outdoor, country British look.

    1. If only England had as much accessable outdoor space as America. I know the inner city doesn't in America.

    2. 8:48 the UK has plenty. Have you been? America’s unfortunately is not always accessible for those in big cities and poverty.

    3. I really like the ruffle too. It adds a touch of polish and femininity to the look, completing it perfectly ♥️. Well done Catherine!

    4. The UK doesn't have plenty of accessable space. It's a regular talking point.

And this is a very good project.

  5. A very important message and one of major substance. I love the initiative, well done to the Princess. This is a great outdoor outfit. Obviously wool combined, keeping her warm. She has such a beautiful authentic smile, from the heart.

    1. A message that's been on our screens for 40 years. I'll learn more about the iniative when she explains it.

    2. @08:46 If you state that you know this message well enough, why do you need Catherine to explain it more? The message is self-explanatory anyway, she lends her face and her status to it because she, evidently, believes that it is very important. Anything left unclear?

    3. Anon. 12:58. The initiative is definitely important but there is no explanation how to implement it taking into consideration the fast-growing obsession of younger generations with gadgets. Plus I don't understand why they used exactly the portraits of PoW to present this project. The photos of her walking around (maybe, with children) and actually exploring the nature would be more appropriate, imo.

    4. Anon. Thank you so much for your insightful comment. I am a bit perplexed. There is nothing not to understand. It is quite evident in the initiative and it’s self-explanatory by the princess along with all the documented evidence that has been published, quite interesting actually.May I kindly suggest a little bit more research . So things will be clearer for you a better level of understanding.. Kind regards.

  6. She looks good in these colours, not keen on the penciled in eyebrow. She still favours her smokey eye makeup which does accent her eyes.

  7. Veste Barbour et pull aux jolies couleurs nous montrent un look très automnal !

  8. It would have been much nicer without the ruffle underneath.

    1. Yes, I like her very much, so no hidden negativity like in some of the comments - but that ruffle could really go away, Fair Isle is really nice enough without "enhancements".

    2. Oooh I’m glad the ruffle is there; that’s a detail I immediately noticed and loved.

    3. Just honest. I find the ruffle hideous.

  9. I have no idea why pictures were released for this.

    1. Because the project is new. So it's news.
And: the photos are beautiful. 😊

    2. @08:49: why pictures for "this"? Because she is a well-loved multiplier for "this".

    3. Photos are fine but I don't think it made sense to release them. Tell us more about the project if there is one. Seems like it's in the early stages.

  10. Every autumn/winter the PoW is wearing these childish sweaters styles with a blouse with ruffles underneath. The Babour jacket is always coming out too every year. She is wearing too dark (black ?) eye shadow. Her left eye (on the photo the right eye) is wearing even more dark eyeshadow than her other eye. I prefer her with less eye make-up. She has beautiful eyes but with all that black eye shadow her eyes look much too hard.

    1. I agree, the excessive eye makeup ages her and it’s unnecessary. MR

    2. Interesting perspective 13:16. Why is a sweater with an interesting pattern childish though?? It’s a woman’s sized woman’s sweater. I think she - with her sweater, reused jacket (isn’t that far better than buying new? Isn’t that normal?!?!), and makeup looks really beautiful.

    3. @13:16, you are ignorant (to say the least) to call the traditional Fair Isle pattern "childish". And if you criticize her jacket, try first to look up the correct ortography.

    4. I think the classic Barbour jacket is a rewear, which is sensitive and environment-friendly.

    5. I like the jacket and sweater but add in those ruffles and it's awful.

    6. A bit of English cosplay.

  11. Very pretty jumper and I like the ruffle accent on the blouse collar. I find her heavy eye makeup harsh and heavy and obscures her eyes rather than accentuates them. Jacket is good for a country walk.

  12. Don't like her outfit at all. Is this really fashion in the UK?

    1. I don't know if it's "fashion", I call it a classic outfit. An outfit like this is very popular among people who spent time outdoor, for example in a forest. Not only in the UK but also for example in southern Germany, where I live. I see a lot of Barbour Jackets here, combined with a good quality jumper.

  13. Meh… the point clearly was to not attract attention to her clothes. Which she managed to do. Good cause, let’s see what happens beyond the loud launch

  14. I find this outfit a bit fussy - ruffled top, patterned sweater, curly hair. Had she worn her hair in a pony tail I think it would have been a fabulous look. (V.M.)

  15. The jacket and jumper are boring, you can get nice bright clothes. There is more to learning in childhood than nature, such a small window they are using. It's not good to dumb down children; thinking is tiny, rote learning is a waste of time. There are some highly intelligent children sadly who are bored

    ReplyDelete
  16. @06:24- well you have completely missed the point, that is dumb!
Perfectly suitable clothes for a day in the countryside and all worn before because they are functionable/suitable/comfortable.
