On October 15, 2026, two new ceramic vases were installed outside the Queen Sonja Art Stable. These unique works of art mark the entrance to the Art Stable. Each vase weighs more than 400 kilograms and was handcrafted from clay. Creating each piece using this technique took a month. They are the largest ceramic vases Queen Sonja has created to date.
Queen Sonja created the vases as unique works specifically for the Art Stable. They were crafted at Tommerup Ceramic Workshop in Denmark and transported to Norway upon completion. They have now been installed in front of the entrance at Parkveien 50, where they will remain permanently.
The Queen Sonja Art Stable has been closed since the death of King Harald on August 28, 2026. The Art Stable is set to reopen on October 16, alongside the exhibition Threads in Time – From the National Tapestries to the Royal Tapestry.

Wouah, magnifiques ; la reine Sonja a toujours eu beaucoup de goût !
ReplyDeleteNow this is very impressive! The vases are simply beautiful. And I am SO happy to see Queen Sonia out and smiling, grief is a companion, not a state.
ReplyDeleteQS also went to the National archives on monday and got to see all the gifts, drawings and greetings from the people after the Kings passing. For some reason not mentioned on this blog. https://www.kongehuset.no/nyheter/dronning-sonja-besokte-nasjonalarkivet

Ever since seeing the movie The Commoner, I've become very fond of Sonia. Sonia and Harald were a true love story.
ReplyDeleteShe looks like a natural in the overalls and boots. And the vases are very cool!
