  1. Holy statement earrings Batman! I think Queen Mathilde is throwing down the gauntlet to Queen Maxima over who can make the greater statement with statement earrings! 😂
Lovely purple color suit (great pants bit boxy/too loose of a jacket) and a great blouse.

    1. Glo, I didn’t know how to talk about the earrings. You did! A fabulous comment indeed!

    2. My first thought was "like a cable tie". I thought "better look it up". But the fact it is from Armani does not change this impression :-)

    3. Those earrings!! Your comment was hilarious!! If those earrings were laying on a table no one would even think they were earrings!

    4. Sauf que pour Maxima, c'est toujours adapté à ses tenues. Pas ici pour Mathilde que par ailleurs j'apprécie beaucoup. De belles et grandes bo peuvent être très bien portées mais il faut être grande.

    5. Eva, I completely agree that Queen Maxima is the gold standard, as a pattern, when it comes to wearing large, statement pieces. She boldly goes where few women do and usually it works very well (although she has had a few that were way too over the top).

  2. The earrings are way over the top, too large, rather odd looking, and take away from her natural beautiful face and smile. In other words, don't hide behind earrings.

  3. I prefer the way the model styled the neckline.just swap the fastening for a great brooch

  4. I don’t mind the earrings, maybe they are from a local artisan she is supporting, I think they look nice with her plain suit. She can wear a suit so well.

    1. The earrings are Giorgio Armani.

    2. Thank you for naming Armani

  5. The neckline of the blouse on the model is different than on Queen Mathilde's and it is not because of the fastening. The purple colour is looking great on Queen Mathilde and the pantsuit fits like a glove. I always like her earrings also her most modern ones, but these black exemplars are not beautiful at all.

  6. I think these earrings are just awful - too big, clumsy design, wrong colour for the suit, unflattering…sigh. Why not choose one of her beautiful pearl and diamond earrings? (V.M.)

    2. Totally agree, they are just awful, she has so many beautiful pieces of jewelry to choose from, yet bought this ugly pair? Makes no sense.

    3. Who says she bought them ? Since she is a good client at Armani's, maybe she received them as a present.

  7. Looks like Queen Mathilde raided Queen Maxima's jewelry box! DIQ

    1. Her hairstyle is better than some others (Princess Anne ?). Queen Mathilde's hair was very beautiful during the state visit to Kazakhstan, but now she is at home and did her hair herself or one of her assistants did it. She doesn't always has a professional hair stylist at her disposal.

    2. Dear 10:18, why do you think you have to explain Mathilde's bad hair day? We can call a bad hair day a bad hair day, cannot we? without finding a reason or excuse for it.

    3. Having visited a couple of the other "stans" just pre-Covid, I suspect after effects of the very dry and dusty atmosphere. It will take a couple of hair treatment seesions and a good trim to fix it.

    4. I agree about the hair. She reminds me of Einstein. I think the earrings are the correct size for her ensemble only because her hair is so big.

  9. I love this pantsuit. Great pants, fit and length. The jacket the same. I find this blouse very attractive, the neckline is appealing and eye catching.

  10. Great pantsuit and lovely colour, both suit her well. But indeed, her ears are drowning behind these earrings. I like the idea, but a bit smaller would have been better.

  11. Superbe tailleur qui la flatte mais au niveau du chemisier de Natan je ne suis pas vraiment fan au niveau de la fermeture du décolleté !

  12. The earrings are awful; they go with a classic suit about as well as shorts would go with a state reception.
I also think she should update her hairstyle to look a bit younger—this style reminds me of an elderly woman.
As for Mr. Fletcher, he should buy a suit a size or two larger. It’s his work uniform, after all—he’s sure to get plenty of use out of it.

  16. The earrings for me are a fashion case study, wherein people buy something which is expensive and not beautiful but they are led to believe it’s beautiful and worth the money because of the brand name. In fact Armani has had a few successes, a whole lot of ordinary, some terribly ugly things … but people continue to buy (at outrageous prices) because of the brand name.

    1. Agree…just because it’s ‘designer’ doesn’t mean it’s well made or beautiful but some people seem to be impressed by the name.

    2. Maybe they were a gift from her daughters

    3. Very well thought out! I agree.

  17. I love Mathilde’s hair natural, without blow-drying, without hairspray. It’s super pretty when it’s natural.

  18. Right, hair is quite bad today so let's wait for next time. And to make things worse, I don't like the overcomplicated neckline of this top at all. The model's top is smooth, Mathilde's is as if it came from the laundry without ironing. And I would not wear it under a jacket, ironed or not.

  19. I love this whole look--the purple suit is gorgeous on Queen Mathilde! The simple white blouse is perfect. Now those earrings...years ago on a different site there was essentially a game played by posters about Maxima and Mathilde saying they had some sort of game going between themselves where the punishment for losing a round was wearing the most outlandish hats or earrings. It was all in fun but maybe they're playing again! Hope Mathilde puts this pair way in the back of jewelry box.

    1. I never heard of a game between Queen Maxima and Queen Mathilde about their earrings. For outlandish hats you have to stay in the UK (see Zarah Tindall) Queen Mathilde's hats are always chosen by someone with good taste.
