On October 14, 2026, Queen Jetsun Pema visited Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) with her children, Prince Jigme Namgyel, Prince Jigme Ugyen, and Princess Sonam Yangden, to inspect preparations for an event scheduled for November 1, during which 108 “Jangchub Chortens” (monuments of enlightenment) will be erected simultaneously in a single day.
The 108 Jangchub Chortens, each standing 15 metres tall, will be arranged in a straight line along the Mau Chhu, approximately 100 metres apart, symbolising a line of prayer across the land. The historic project, envisioned by the King, was announced in February this year.
During her visit to GMC, Queen Jetsun Pema also attended the sangha salhang ceremony for Hatisar School, a private educational institution that will offer the Bhutan Baccalaureate curriculum from Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) through Grade VI.

I very much like the rich crimsons of Jetsun Pema’s kira. And the periwinkle blue of the second. Beautiful colours and fabrics.
