On 17 October 2026, Queen Camilla and Zara Tindall attended British Champions Day at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire. Established in 2011, the annual event marks the culmination of the European flat racing season and brings together some of the sport’s leading horses and jockeys. The Queen met 14-year-old pony racing winner Camilla Froggatt and Saffie Osborne, who last month became the first female jockey to ride the winner of a British Classic race.

For the occasion, Queen Camilla wore a bespoke bright blue coat dress by Fiona Clare, paired with a navy wide-brimmed hat by Philip Treacy. She also wore her “Minoru” horseshoe brooch. Zara Tindall, meanwhile, wore a “Sybil” wool blazer by Fairfax & Favor and a spice-toned leather skirt by Scanlan Theodore.

  1. Zara’s hat kind of looks to me like it has a napkin in a napkin ring on top of it, but other than that, I quite like her outfit. She (or her stylist) does a great job pulling outfits together with nice, coordinating accessories. Queen Mary (or her stylist) also does this well.

  2. 2 Royal fans of horses. QC- usual well done coatdress with horseshoe brooch. That hat is a bit off with the coat but I think if she had done navy (rather than black) shoes, gloves and purse it would have helped to pull it together.
ZT- great well put together outfit and accessories except that bow styling on the hat. Napkin ring indeed-well said RW!

  3. Zara's outfit looks so stylish and chic, very elegant. Her accessories are always on point. Love her hair styled in this way. Her hat, looks great. The Queen has a very interesting hat and trim, suits her well.

  4. I would have liked Zara's outfit much more with a simple button down shirt, removed the belt, and got rid of the hat. I don't like the purse and I would have chosen different boots.

  5. What a treat! Zara and Queen Camilla enjoying a race day together--thinking both of them are as happy as can be. Love Zara's outfit--excellent in every aspect. Her hat is intriguing and I certainly get the napkin ring and napkin comment from Royal Watcher. Now I can't unsee that! As for Queen Camilla--she certainly has a favorite new hat--we've seen this one a few times lately and it looks smashing on her. I love her ability to wear great big hats and look amazing in them. Her blue coat is lovely, a great color for her, and braiding detail is beautiful.

  6. Zara's outfit is very "horsy" and very "British", but it suits her and it fits. The belt is not necessary and together with the hat almost ruin her outfit. Her hair is a mess.
