Princess Aiko of Japan is visiting Tottori Prefecture in western Japan to attend a national conference on disaster preparedness and visit an exhibition dedicated to the popular manga series Detective Conan, also known as Case Closed. This marks her first visit to Tottori and her second time attending the conference, following last year’s event in Niigata Prefecture.
On 17 October 2026, Princess Aiko arrived at Tottori Sand Dunes Conan Airport, where she viewed an exhibition dedicated to Case Closed, whose creator, Gosho Aoyama, is from Tottori Prefecture. She also visited a facility supporting employment for people with disabilities, where she watched a performance by facility users featuring an instrument known as the zendaiko, a type of Japanese percussion instrument.
Princess Aiko attended a session on disaster preparedness from women's perspectives at the 11th National Conference for Promoting Disaster Risk Reduction 2026, held at Acepack Mirai Chushin in Kurayoshi. Female university students and other participants presented their disaster preparedness activities.
During her three-day visit to the prefecture, Princess Aiko is also scheduled to visit areas affected by the 2016 Tottori earthquake and see the Tottori Sand Dunes on Monday, 19 October.

Outfit far too conservative (skirt length) for such a young woman.
