On Thursday, October 15, 2026, Crown Prince Christian turned 21. Born on October 15, 2005, at Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen, he is the son of King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark. The Danish Royal Court released new official gala portraits to mark his 21st birthday.
In the portraits, Crown Prince Christian is pictured wearing the gala uniform of the Royal Life Guards. His decorations include the Grand Commander’s Cross and the breast star of the Order of the Dannebrog. The portraits were taken a few weeks before his birthday in the vestibule of Christian VII’s Palace at Amalienborg.
To mark his birthday, King Frederik awarded Crown Prince Christian the Grand Commander’s Cross of the Order of the Dannebrog. Grand Commander is the highest rank of the order and is reserved exclusively for members of royal and princely families who already hold the Order of the Elephant.
There are currently seven Grand Commanders of the Order of the Dannebrog. In addition to King Frederik, Queen Mary and Crown Prince Christian, the distinction is also held by Queen Margrethe, Prince Joachim, Princess Benedikte and King Carl XVI Gustaf. King Harald V, who died in August 2026, was also a Grand Commander of the Order of the Dannebrog.

Christian looks very handsome and poised in his uniform.

ردحذفWishing him a very happy birthday and congratulations on all the honors he got!
Impressive young man. I hope he can resist hiding parts of his face behind a beard (at least as long as he wears hair on top of his head :-)
ردحذفA handsome young man.
ردحذفMagnifiques portraits où nous voyons la ressemblance du prince héritier Christian avec la reine Mary !
