King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia are undertaking a three-day State Visit to the Republic of Finland, aimed at highlighting and strengthening the ties and bilateral relations between the two countries. The State Visit runs from October 5 to 7, with visits to Helsinki and Rovaniemi. On October 5, 2026, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia departed from Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport in Madrid to travel to Finland.
Throughout the visit, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia’s agenda will address the main areas of cooperation between Spain and Finland, ranging from political, economic and defence relations to education, science, innovation, culture and ties between their societies. This is King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia’s first State Visit to Finland.

Whoa! Another way to arrive for a state visit … a beautiful practical fine wool (?) suit in all simplicity with practical black loafers (I think). Letizia does a beautifully simple elegance which I really love. I also love the immense elegance of a Maxima or Catherine state visit with hat. But this one suits my personal tastes best of all. Now to wonder, do we see a tiara tonight?
ReplyDeleteThis is the travel day. The official visit starts at 10.00 tomorrow Helsinki time.
DeleteWow, immer neue Allianzen
ReplyDeleteThe pantsuit is too dull & masculine looking. It needs a feminine touch like some jewelry, a scarf or bright top inside.
ReplyDeleteI thought it looked rather masculine as well.
DeleteI agree. Very business like but dull and masculine appearance. It looks too big as well and the black shoes don't help either. She could wear a trouser suit that fits better and is less sombre. We want a degree of glam from our state visits.
DeleteShe loves those masculine shoes which I thought would have disappeared by now. An unusual choice for the Queen of Spain. MR
DeleteI love it. I don’t think Letizia could look masculine if she tried. I also love the shoes, the look great and are comfortable, which should frankly be the mark of any good shoe, wot! The trousers are too long which I don’t like but unfortunately is an ongoing trend. The suit itself is beautiful and classic and would look very strange on (most men) as it’s clearly a women’s model.
DeleteThis suit is not pretty or attractive. The trousers are definitely too long.
ReplyDeleteThis suit is very pretty and very attractive. The thousers are too short.
DeleteYeah the should be hemmed. I’m looking forward to the trend of trousers to the ground to end!
DeleteTotally agree, the suit is not a good look
DeleteThe whole suit looks too large for Letizia, the pant legs are touching the ground.
ReplyDeleteWhen other European kings and queens are leaving for a state visit they are not photographed as much as the Spanish king an queen. I find the suit a bit too sombre and it looks also a bit oversized. Of course in Finland the temperature can be lower than in Spain. I never saw Queen Maxima or Queen Mathilde leaving for a state visit with a hat. Generally Queen Mathilde change clothes in the plane and steps down formally dressed (with hat and gloves) in the country she visits. Also Queen Maxima wears a hat and gloves when she arrives in a country for a state visit. This is the old European tradition of Queens and Queen consorts to dress-up formally when visiting another country. As for the tiara, since Finland has no king/queen, usually Queen Mathilde wears no tiara and if is she does wear one it is the thinnest tiara she inherted from Queen Fabiola. When she does her hair in an updo, she wears sometimes a broche in her hair. As for the outfit of Queen Letizia we'll see what she will wear tonight.
ReplyDeleteThinking about royal traditions including arrival outfits, they are more applicable to families with long traditions. The Spanish monarchy has no long continuity. In fact the line is only 50 years old. Not much time as all to develop traditions! For this reason Letizia and Felipe have more bandwidth to set new traditions and not follow old. Hence, no hat on arrival, and a simple and very neat travel outfit with no airs or graces. I love it.
DeleteAlways in style. If traveling or at home, she is always the best dress. Classy RL.

Both the jacket and trousers look too big/long. Also not a fan of the heavy black shoes. Interesting fashion choice but hoping the rest of the visit will bring better outfits.
ReplyDeleteA mon avis, ce tailleur-pantalon pourrait aller mieux à Letizia s'il était plus près du corps ; en effet, elle y flotte dedans !
ReplyDeleteLetizia is in my view the queen of pantsuits -- she has many and usually looks so elegant in them -- but not today. Oversized looks are trendy, but dont work on everyone; they are rarely flattering for Letizia because they overwhelm her frame -- as shown by the wrinkles everywhere. Lyra
ReplyDeleteSuit looks a tad to big, masculine, though the thicker soled shoes will keep her feet warm when walking on the tarmac, they are okay.
ReplyDeleteI find her face has changed so much from her wedding photos, not sure if it is weight loss, can’t pinpoint what it is.
Letizia has changed her face, mostly subtly, a couple of times more radically, and ongoing right throughout her time as a royal. In particular her nose reshaping operation was actually announced in a palace press release for “deviated septum”.
Delete… however I think she’s done all this very well and remains understated and natural. I think she’s superb!
DeleteLetizia’s suit looks boxy and too large on her. But perhaps comfortable for travel.

Tontolaba.
ReplyDeleteA pants suit is fine for travelling, but this one is definitely too baggy and long for her.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of this pantsuit. The outline imo is good, I feel its the sizing that has let the Queen down here. The overall look is baggy, though I believe it is supposed to be trendy, but this is a bit too big for Letizia's frame.
ReplyDeletePravo, fantastic.
