Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman is on a three-day state visit to the United Kingdom. On October 20, 2026, King Charles III and Queen Camilla, accompanied by the Prince and Princess of Wales, formally welcomed the Sultan at Windsor Castle. His visit marks the first state visit to the UK by a Sultan of Oman in 44 years.

For the occasion, Queen Camilla wore a vivid red wool-crepe dress and coat by Fiona Clare, a hat by Philip Treacy, and a ruby and diamond flower brooch. The Princess of Wales wore a dark green coat dress by Alexander McQueen and a hat by Juliette Botterill. She also wore her brooch known as the “Queen Alexandra Three Feathers.”

The Queen Alexandra Three Feathers brooch depicts the three ostrich feathers featured in the Prince of Wales’s heraldic badge, surrounded by diamonds and emeralds. The brooch was given to Princess Diana on the occasion of her marriage to Prince Charles, then Prince of Wales. Following her death in 1997, the jewel returned to the Royal Collection.

Later, the King and Queen, accompanied by the Sultan of Oman, viewed objects from the Royal Collection in the Green Drawing Room at Windsor Castle. The Prince and Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Edinburgh also joined them. Having changed her outfit, the Princess of Wales wore a midi dress by designer Norma Kamali.

  1. I subscribe to the motto: "there is beauty in simplicity.", so I like the ladies' outfits. I would love to add a dress similar to the one worn by Princess Kate to my collection.

  2. i would have liked to see Catherine's black lace dress under the coat, look intresting but she seems to have changed to another green long dull one

    1. Why do you think it’s dull? I rather love it and would love one in my wardrobe. It’s simple, easy to wear and easily dressed up (eg with the belt she has) or down.

  3. And again the same kind of coatdress.

    1. That’s because it’s traditional to wear them for this type of event or in royal circles … so if you’re watching the British royals, you’ll see them frequently.

    2. She has this exact coat in blue but I also think in another colour (red?). It works I accept that but it is amazingly dull for a lady who could do so much for British fashion. LRB

  4. Everyone looks fine. All in their wheelhouse. I like the POW's dress don't know if it suits her. Ready for the state dinner. I dislike the large bow on this rewear of Sophie's, but I find this one tame compared to other large bows.

  5. The King and Queen look very polished and I very much like the hat. The POW is wearing her usual, fully covered from neck to ankle in both outfits. I still hold out hope that she will bring some personality to her clothes instead of repeating these utilitarian “work” outfits. I realize that’s a fool’s errand after years of her formulaic wardrobe but I still dream of the old Kate fashion!

    1. I do think we see Catherine’s personality shine through her outfits! She’s expressly stated she wants the focus on her work and not on her clothes, and I think she balances what she wears very well while living out her values. I love her philosophy and choices and find her and her outfits full of personality.

  6. QC in her usual style, well-fitted and vibrant. A very good coat on PoW. I would like her dress more if the belt was styled as on the model without half of it just hanging down. DoE also has a nice dress (at least the upper part of it). All three ladies are wearing wonderful brooches.

  7. Every inch the future Queen! The photo of Wills and Kate is wonderful!

  8. Camilla and Catherine both look well-dressed and well-groomed. I like both of the brooches. Charles and William look dapper in their morning suits. Interesting that Charles is wearing a hat and William is not. Maybe a protocol thing, I don’t know.

    1. The king was wearing a top hat before the Sultan arrived. He took it off for the greeting.

  9. QC’s big hats are unattractive in my mind. I know many like them. They just never seem proportionate. Big hair, big hat, big dress.

  10. QC’s big hats always appear disproportionate. I know many like the big hats. I don’t. Feel like the big hair and big dress could use a smaller (than this one, for example) hat to provide some visual balance.

  12. Someone please tell Catherine too stop the heavy-handed, dark eye shadow. It ages her 10 yrs! Lovely hat and coat, especially the teal color. MR

  13. Love the dark teal colour, all look very nice. Don’t know what the king has in his pant pockets but not very becoming. Also photo 8 I am seeing some netting , I would suspect she is wearing a hair piece, because you can see the netting at the back part.
