On September 8, 2026, Queen Sonja visited the Palace Chapel, where King Harald V is lying in state. The Royal Household shared new photographs of Queen Sonja paying her respects at King Harald’s coffin, accompanied by the message, “Takk for et godt liv,” which translates as “Thank you for a good life.” The funeral service for King Harald V will be held at Oslo Cathedral on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
