On September 21, 2026, Queen Sofía of Spain inaugurated the 2026 International Congress on Neurodegenerative Diseases (ICND) at the Virgen de los Reyes Centre in Seville, as part of the commemorative activities marking World Alzheimer’s Day. Upon her arrival, the Queen was welcomed by the Mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz, and the Managing Director of the CIEN Foundation, María Ángeles Pérez Muñoz.
