On 22 September 2026, Princess Benedikte of Denmark attended the Alzheimer Research Foundation’s annual awards ceremony in her capacity as Patron of the Alzheimer’s Association. The Princess presented the Alzheimer’s Association’s (Alzheimerforeningen) Research Awards, with the prize amounting to DKK 300,000.
Each year, the Alzheimer Research Foundation, together with the Alzheimer’s Association, marks World Alzheimer’s Day by presenting two awards to Danish researchers who have made a special contribution to research and development in the field of dementia. This year marked the 24th edition of the awards.
Princess Benedikte presented the Basic Research Award to Professor and physician Torben Moos of Aalborg University. The Princess presented the Clinical Research Award to Kasper Jørgensen, a neuropsychology specialist consultant at the Dementia Research Centre at Rigshospitalet. In addition to the two main awards, grants were presented to ten researchers.
