King Harald’s older sister, Princess Astrid, passed away at the age of 94, just two days after her brother’s funeral. Princess Astrid was last seen at the state funeral of her younger brother, King Harald. Although she did not take part in the funeral procession, she headed to Oslo Cathedral to pay tribute to her younger brother, King Harald.
Princess Astrid had been hospitalised with pneumonia earlier this year. She was born on 12 February 1932. Princess Astrid was the daughter of King Olav V and Crown Princess Märtha, and the sister of King Harald V. She served as Norway’s First Lady from 1954 to 1968 and represented the Royal House until her death on 11 September 2026. Princess Astrid was not in the line of succession to the throne.

I have always loved to see Princess Astrid at events, especially galas, as she brought in the sunshine. Her genuine warmth and humor always shined so brightly. She has been a rock for her family for decades--a huge help to her mother during WWII in the US all the way to being stoic at the end during her younger brother's funeral. May she rest with the angels and know her time on earth was spent in bringing joy, steadfastness, and love to all who knew her.

حذفOh no, this is so sad. I did read the Princess passed in her sleep. Her devotion and duty was incredible. I also read her working to help the Monarchy back when she was quite young, it was a highly impressive story. She never faltered, right to the end. The loss of her brother, regardless of the fact he was King, was obviously felt deep. God bless you Princess Astrid, you will be missed. Rest easy now with your brother.
