On Sunday, 13 September 2026, King Felipe VI of Spain, accompanied by Crown Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía, attended the 2026 Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix in Madrid. The event took place from 11 to 13 September at the new MADRING circuit, which was designed to host Formula 1, Formula 2 and Formula 3 competitions.
Until now, the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Montmeló had been the only Spanish venue to host the Formula 1 World Championship. With Madrid joining the 2026 calendar, Spain will become the only European country to host two Grand Prix races.
