On September 2, 2026, King Charles III and Queen Camilla, accompanied by French President Emmanuel Macron and Mrs. Brigitte Macron, visited the British Museum in London to view the Bayeux Tapestry exhibition. This will be the first time the Bayeux Tapestry has been in the UK since it was made almost 1,000 years ago.
Stitched in wool thread on linen fabric, the artwork depicts events leading up to the Battle of Hastings in October 1066, when William, Duke of Normandy, defeated King Harold’s Anglo-Saxon army. The 70-metre tapestry, originally embroidered in England but kept for centuries in France, is on special loan for the exhibition and will go on public display next week.
Why the silly sort of belt above the bust on mrs macron ? It doesn't do anything but distract from a perfectly good white dress. The q camilla's outfit is a rewear and aa attractive one its lovely and suits her

DeleteThe sort of belt worn by Madame Macron was fashion at the end of the 50s. These fantasies were used in the back of the waist. To create faux pockets etc... on dresses and jackets and also to finish a neckline. Like Madame Macron is wearing it I never saw it, but maybe I forgot. It is such a long time ago. I remember I had something similar on my dress when I was 12 years old and received from my parents a new dress and coat and hat to wear on special occasions.

DeleteI love the dress the First Lady is wearing, nice fit and style. Love the design, very smart and chic. Her bag and shoes are perfect choices. I love the fact her hair is half up. The Queen looks nice in this partly embroider dress, very effective.

Going back a few years the title was Femme du President (the wife of the president).

ReplyDeleteLovely ladies in white. I love that Camilla can absolutely step up her elegance … when required … but doesn’t overdo it in her daily work. For me that’s a very good balance that matches her personality and own choices. Interesting to note Mme Macron relying on Camilla for stability.

ReplyDeleteIt is a dress, so far it is typical - but look, the collared-and-zipped-up shirt-like quality on the top part is completely missing, yay!! instead a beautiful embellishment and a perfect open neckline. Both ladies look perfect, elegant and attractive, holding hands (and laughing) while stepping down the stairs in heels - well done!

ReplyDeleteI am unable to reply to the educated commenter 15.35, so I'll put it here. Growing up in the 50's, we called this design above the bust a placket or tab. I had a shift dress in red where the sleeveless armholes were trimmed in white. There was a whitre placket in the same place as Mme. Macron. Quite crisp looking.
