On September 4, 2026, King Philippe, Queen Mathilde and Prince Gabriel of Belgium attended the opening night of the 50th edition of the Allianz Memorial Van Damme at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels. On this occasion, King Philippe, Queen Mathilde and Prince Gabriel also met athletes who have played an important role in the history of the competition: Carl Lewis, Dwight Stones, Mike Boit and Sergey Bubka.
Ivo Van Damme was a Belgian middle-distance runner. Van Damme was killed in a car accident while travelling home from Marseille in southern France. Since 1977, a memorial competition has been held in Brussels in his memory. The Memorial Van Damme is now the championship final for selected disciplines of the Diamond League athletics series.

The Queen looks wonderful, this suit literally was made for her, with her long legs, the pants look sensational, as does the jacket. The design and style of the pantsuit is perfect. I like jackets this length. The color of this outfit is pretty and feminine. Love her earrings, they blend well with her outfit, and are of substance. How marvelous to see Prince Gabriel, at this event. I fully appreciate his height when seeing him in photos with others such as this. A very good looking Prince, he is well groomed and attired, his suit looks smashing, fits well and all class!

Prince Gabriel has passed one week at Arlon (Be) where he started the preparation for his training to become a para commando. The education will continue at Marche-les-Dames (Be) and Schaffen (Be).
