This year, Austria hosted the 22nd Informal Meeting of the Heads of State of the German-Speaking Countries. Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen, together with Doris Schmidauer, welcomed heads of state from five German-speaking countries to their traditional meeting in Innsbruck, the capital of Austria’s western state of Tyrol. These meetings have been held annually since 2004 in one of the six participating countries.
King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium, Grand Duke Guillaume and Grand Duchess Stéphanie of Luxembourg, Hereditary Prince Alois and Hereditary Princess Sophie of Liechtenstein, Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen and Doris Schmidauer of Austria, Swiss Federal President Guy Parmelin and Caroline Parmelin, and German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Elke Büdenbender gathered in Innsbruck for the meeting.
Following their discussions in Innsbruck, the heads of state visited the Stubai Glacier, where they exchanged views on the impact of climate change in the Alpine region.
Stephanie's teal pants outfit is interesting; the "jacket" seems to be more of a top, which I suppose is removed via a zipper down the back. I like the colour, and the shorter sleeve length, but I'm not convinced by the white collar trim; I wish we could see the whole outfit better. Lyra
ردحذفAgree, Lyra. The colour is great for Stephanie but I think the outfit would be better simpler. If the top were a fairly standard suit jacket with eg a white tshirt underneath, I think it would be firstly easier to reuse multiple times and secondly suit her better.
حذفQueen Mathlide looks beautifully groomed and very stylish. GD Stephanie, looks very good here, pantsuit fits well. Her hair looks lovely well groomed.

Agree Rossella. What comes out of a viewing? Certainly already in Austria and Switzerland we have fairly brilliant research and growing understanding of the the impact of climate change on glaciers, but the real question is what will governments do, most especially the biggest administrations, to help bring about change. Our little countries have very little impact relative to the enormous global energy consumers, and yet we suffer badly and increasingly.
حذفRe Stephanie, yes I also observed that her suit sleeves don’t fully cover her arm and that she has gone for a fancy jacket when everyone else just brought a practical coat. I don’t think that does any harm to her as temperatures aren’t particularly cold (except excess UV exposure) but I did notice the difference!
The shorter sleeves on ladies jackets are very trendy this fall and winter.
حذفI saw beautiful jackets in camel brown, cream, navy yesterday when I went shopping. But as beautiful as I found these jackets as reluctant I was to buy one just because of the short sleeves. Do we have to wear long gloves with it ? This could be done for and evening outfit to the theatre or classic concert and a dinner party afterwards, but not to let the dog out. So I didn't buy one and I will continue to wear my short and long puffy coats during fall and winter 2026-27.

Love how Doris Schmidauer and Elke Büdenbender hugged each other. Sadly, there is no longer much to see of the Stubai Glacier in Tyrolia. I know the area from back in the day, when there was plenty of ice and snow and one could ski there even in the midst of summer. I also like that the annual meeting is being upheld, it is important to connect for these countries tied together by language. I am not an overly huge fan of the suit of GD Stephanie, apart from the colour. To me, Queen Mathilde looks best.
ردحذفFor the first part of their meeting Queen Mathilde wore a new embroidered coat- blazer by Esmeralda Amoun over a navy blue pair of trousers and a white classic top. Later for the visit to the Stubai gletcher Queen Mathilde changed clothes. She choosed a brown pant suit with adapted (mountain) shoes and a white light sweater with a high neck. On top of it she wore a long black puffed coat. King Philippe and the majority of the other attendants wore also puffed coats. I didn't saw Grand Duc Guillaume anymore so I presume he is the one who took the 2 group's photo's.
ردحذفAfter taking a closer look I see that Stephanie’ collar has the white embellishment which I thought was a necklace. Lovely colour for her not sure about the top but overall she looks good. I do like her white wool jacket which must be quite warm being a natural fabric, not keen on the sleeves, but they do add interest. The synthetic puff coats to see effects of climate change…hmm
