Princess Anne is marking her 76th birthday today. Born on 15 August 1950, she is a member of the British royal family. She is the second child and only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, and the sister of King Charles III. She has held the title of Princess Royal since 1987. As of 2026, Princess Anne is 19th in the line of succession to the British throne.
Princess Anne recently welcomed a new daughter-in-law, Harriet Phillips, and a new step-granddaughter, Georgina, into her family. She is celebrating her birthday privately with her immediate family and grandchildren at Gatcombe Park, her Gloucestershire estate, where she lives with her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence.

Viva the bright lipstick!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, kind, practical, sustainable, horsey, no-nonsense Anne!
ReplyDeleteI love the hat in the first picture. Hats, correctly chosen for the face and head shape, have such a capacity to frame our faces and add loveliness.
She is never fashionable, but always honours the occasion by not wearing what she probably would to feel comfortable. Always elegant, even if not always absolutely pleasing the eye, - this is her speciality. I don't even mind her black gloves as long as she puts on a nice red lipstick alongside with her bright smile. She is a shining example of a dutiful life, may she just keep soldiering on like this for a long time.
ReplyDeleteI think 16:05 “fashionable” is in the eye of the beholder because many versions of what is fashionable exist at one time. My mother find Anne dresses extremely well as she is of the same era. Fashion for them is different than from what the 2026 fast fashion and 2026 haute couture designers are pushing.
Delete@Anon 13:35, I wrote "Anne is never fashionable" and I am not only of the same era, I am the same age as Anne. The very concept of "fashionable" is time-bound, i.e. if I say an outfit is fashionable, then I necessarily refer to the fashion of today. If I like the fashion of today, be it fast fashion or haute couture - that's a whole different question. I loved the 80's fashion, when I was young and wore it, but I cannot simply declare it to be "fashionable" (today). If Anne wears her outfits from anno whenever, I praise her for her independence very much. But she is, of course, not fashionable - and this is not a negative statement, just an objective one.
Delete14:33 I really appreciated your response! Thank you.

My absolute favourite royal. Is it OK to say that? I am new to commenting. She always looks good. This may sometimes be more because of the quality of the clothes and her self-discipline, than the style of the outfit.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Ma'am. She is most definitely the jewel in the crown. Her work ethic is second to none. I admire her greatly.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to the Princess Royal, Princess Anne! She is simply the best--just like her mother, always there.
