The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, their daughter Lady Louise Windsor, and Lady Louise’s boyfriend, Felix da Silva-Clamp, visited the Royal Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh to attend a performance of Inala, a Zulu ballet nominated for a Grammy Award and staged by the House of Sisters Grimm. Since its world premiere at the Edinburgh International Festival in 2014, INALA has toured internationally and most recently appeared twice in London’s Trafalgar Square as part of the official Nelson Mandela Day celebrations.
After watching the production, the family met with the cast and crew. The show, which has received a Grammy nomination, is described as a celebration of diversity and African culture. Inala has attracted world-class performers, including South African legends Ladysmith Black Mambazo and the Soweto Gospel Choir, as well as current and former dancers from the Royal Ballet and Rambert. INALA, meaning ‘abundance of goodwill’.
The Aspiga Nel Lace Blouse is beautiful, very pretty and feminine. I'm not sure if the Duchess is wearing a flaired Demin skirt? How lovely to see Lady Louise and Felix in attendance with the Duchess and the Duke. From what I can see the Duke looks casual and I love the shirt, not often we seen him with no jacket. Lovely!

ReplyDeleteI like the lace blouse worn by Duchess Sophie. She pulled back her hair again. Since she has this cute bob, we saw her more with her hair pulled back in the neck than loose. Lady Louise is wearing a dull skirt (much too long) and a green shirt. Summer is not over yet though she seems to prefer autumn colours already. She dresses much too old for her age.
ReplyDeleteLet me put it clearly, maybe you could stop ageism then: Louise dresses much too unattractive for *ANY* age. I think you should not hurt any older woman (me among others :-) by saying that this outfit is nice enough for older age because it is not true. I cannot imagine any old woman looking good in what Louise is wearing. Otherwise, to be very clear: she is a charming young woman - I am talking here about her outfit.
DeleteAgreed that the plaid skirt on the princess is very aging, especially at that length and paired with a dull blouse. The outfit feels very ‘50s catholic school uniform.
DeleteI take issue with criticising what young people choose to wear. We all went through stages of experimentation, and we were most likely very sensitive to criticism too. She looks completely fine, a blouse and a skirt. Let her be.
DeleteAh, The Duke of Edinburgh looks quite like the perfect mix of Prince William and King George VI here. How tall Mr. da Silva-Clamp is, wow. The Duchess of Edinburgh did a lot of mix-and-match with the denim ensemble recently. Hope to see them all soon at the Braemar Highland Games. I 've also heard that the Earl of Wessex has taken up university education (or will soon start it) at the Royal Agricultural University Cirencester.

ReplyDeleteI have been part of this small commenting community for a long time and leave it now. I am 76 and simply cannot bear the stupidity of women who equate "age" and "unattractive" any longer. What they don't like, is "aging" or, worse: good enough for older women - and they dare to write it because nobody opposes. Shame on you.
ReplyDeleteI wrote the comment that her skirt is very aging and I really appreciate your response. I should be more careful with my language. My intent with the word aging is that the clothes are from, or are a reference to, another era. In this case, if Queen Camilla wore this same skirt, it would be aging on her too in my view. It’s not a dig at the person or someone’s age, just a comment that the clothes are not modern in terms of cut, style, etc.
