No. They never asked for complete privacy—that is a trope pushed by hostile media. They left due to media and online abuse, as well as lack of support from the royal family who could easily have made some simple statement to diffuse the abuse. There are also significant safety threats from people who wanted to harm them and worse. These still exist. They also did not call the royal family racist. They stated that two members had wondered in conversation about the color of their future children’s skin. They stated clearly that it was not the HLM the Queen, nor the Duke of Edinburgh.
DeleteThere are still horrifying accusations about their children not being their own because of their light hair and skin. This is ridiculous and libelous. The children are 3/4 white because Meghan is mixed race. And it’s possible that Meghan’s mother has some mixed ancestry as well.

DeleteFor Anonymous08::26, This is not meant as a criticism of your commentary, but I thought a closer look at one of the statements deserved a closer look and can help explain some of the problems Meghan encountered around Megixt time. The statement"...as we continue to collaborate with the Queen." You may recall, that elicited a firestorm of criticism at Meghan. That statement was believed to be a major breach of protocol and deeply respectful to the Monarch. There are no "equal" relationships with the Sovereign. Even relatives do not "collaborate" with the Monarch. They serve the Monarch. Meghan was accused for treating the Queen as if she were on a family-run business where everyone is on the same level. Whoever wrote that statement or advised Meghan and Harry to say that, should have made a public statement. Instead, the blame was leveled at Meghan because she was an American and did not understand royal protocol. At that time, Megan and Harry had a staff working for them and someone should have corrected that before it was published. That error, I think, set an unfortunate tone for Meghan's early days in Britain. Even Meghan's detractors have to admit, she is well educated and so I find it hard to believe she didn't clear that statement with aides. But no one went to her defense.
DeleteYes, what they say and what they do are two completely different things. One of the best decisions that William can do when he becomes king, is to take away their titles. While Harry will always be the son of Charles, at least maybe we could see less of her.

ReplyDeleteBlack and white photos can be artistic (if a bit affected) but only with a sujet that calls for it or at least allows it with good results. This is not the case here, the s/w pics are simply not really good. The color photo would be nice if it was not so very un-spontaneous. I don't mean the dog, what it does is highly spontaneous. The duchess much less.

DeleteI agree. The American mass balloons for celebrations is an infuriating waste. She’s not carrying quite so many, but it does rather clash with taking a good stance for the environment. She and Harry have shown us enough (esp private plane use) thst we might say environmental care is not a priority for them. Cute photo but yes it will always grate on me too that they asked for privacy then she is so highly self promotional. I think Hollywood would suit her very well if only she could break in.

But this time, the similarity was really striking and quite suggestive to think that there was mental work behind choosing this picture/this pose. But you are basically right, yes, and I, too, prefer to stick to fashion. Alas, there was not much fashion to comment on and the photos themselves were not really good. Well ... yes, true, I basically don't like her, to put it mildly, but I like to comment on what she is wearing.
