On August 14, 2026, the Duchess of Edinburgh visited Capability Scotland in Edinburgh to meet volunteers, staff, and clients and to celebrate its 80th anniversary. Capability Scotland is a Scottish charity founded in 1946. Based in Edinburgh, with operations across Scotland, it provides care, support, and education for disabled people.
Capability Scotland was founded in October 31, 1946, by a group of parents and health professionals. Its initial aim was to support children with cerebral palsy. The first school was opened in Corstorphine, Edinburgh, in 1948. In the early 1960s, the charity began organising employment opportunities for disabled people, and in 1973, the first adult residential home was established. The Duchess of Edinburgh is the Patron of Capability Scotland.
Sophie’s kindness is tremendously beautiful.

ReplyDeleteAh Sandra, I love that mentioned the pastries! It’s all part of the story! I love the blouse’s colour, and it’s particularly gorgeous on summery Sophie. The design looks complicated (especially to iron) but the joy of the colour totally overwhelms the style anyway.
DeleteOn the fashion front, this blouse is not flattering at all. It’s too large from the neckline all the way down and the sleeves are too short/wide/puffy. She would really benefit from professional styling, especially given her active schedule as a senior royal.

100% Luna! Nice looking and loving. Re her fashion, I think she’s found her own way, almost a uniform, and it’s a style she obviously loves. More power to the woman who shuns a series of fast fashion trends and the power of persuasion “you should be wearing x this season” and settles into a pattern of sleeves, hems, dress shapes, etc that she feels good in. For me, Sophie’s clothes are always second to whatever I see in the photos of her here presented. She appears so kind, natural, thoughtful, and really clever and heartfelt in how she runs her role.

DeleteYou would not care but most people would. Other royals work for similar occasions too and I find it important to give people due respect also in the way how you dress - because it is expected from royals. Not luxury, but good taste. She does spend money on clothing, it is money not really well spent.
DeleteHer skirt looks like a good fit from what I can see. Not so sure of the blouse. She has a very interesting bracelet on her wrist, looks to be gold links, but not sure of the darker points of interest. What a beautiful, down to earth and warm visit by the Duchess. She is so engaging and authentic. She is kindness personified, it shines like a beacon, emanating in her personality. I love such visits, it is a wonderful occasion. Uplifting for caregivers, staff and participants. Well done to the Duchess, she is a real jewel in the crown, humble, dignified and graceful.
ReplyDeleteSkirt and blouse fit neither in their style nor in colour. Tan/beige can be very nice with blue, but than: with dark blue. The combination with the jeans skirt is awkward too, contrast not enough. But his blouse should wander to second hand/charity anyway, it is devoid of form, style and shape, just blown up like a balloon.

ReplyDeleteSophie's genuine kindness and caring are so evident in these photos. The joy she is bringing to those she is visiting is obvious. What a wonderful lady and superb representative of and for the BRF. In terms of her attire--simple, down to earth, and unfussy all of which emphasizes her approachability. Truly one of my favorite royal ladies to follow.
