On August 14, 2026, the Duchess of Edinburgh visited Capability Scotland in Edinburgh to meet volunteers, staff, and clients and to celebrate its 80th anniversary. Capability Scotland is a Scottish charity founded in 1946. Based in Edinburgh, with operations across Scotland, it provides care, support, and education for disabled people.

Capability Scotland was founded in October 31, 1946, by a group of parents and health professionals. Its initial aim was to support children with cerebral palsy. The first school was opened in Corstorphine, Edinburgh, in 1948. In the early 1960s, the charity began organising employment opportunities for disabled people, and in 1973, the first adult residential home was established. The Duchess of Edinburgh is the Patron of Capability Scotland.

    Unfortunately we cannot see Sophie's skirt, but the blue top looks great against the tan colour. The pastries in the last photo look scrumptious and delicious.

      Ah Sandra, I love that mentioned the pastries! It’s all part of the story! I love the blouse’s colour, and it’s particularly gorgeous on summery Sophie. The design looks complicated (especially to iron) but the joy of the colour totally overwhelms the style anyway.

    On the fashion front, this blouse is not flattering at all. It’s too large from the neckline all the way down and the sleeves are too short/wide/puffy. She would really benefit from professional styling, especially given her active schedule as a senior royal.

    Yes, her kindness is inmense, her sense of fashion...well we all have suggestions but she is a nice looking and loving lady, sometimes that's all we need.
